Q: Women at the Battle of Dorylaeum

TheHonRoseI have just been watching The Crusades Dr Thomas Asbridge BBC 2012, in which he states that "... girls, delicate and noble...", went into their tents to put on their best clothes, in the hope of winning "pity" from the Turks - involving, presumably, rape and/or slavery. I have heard this claim b...

@fredsbend just saw your answer on SDA orthodoxy. Man, that was an enjoyable read.
@El'endiaStarman that's a very reasonable position to take, and thus nobody in the MSE argument/yell fest will pay any attention to it. :(
@PeterTurner Peter should I start flagging people who insult me by calling me binary? I find the term offensive. For something like 30 years the common term was "straight" ... and for that matter, why do they demand the right to insult me by calling me cis gendered? What kind of Ministry of Truth approach to communication is that? (This question is somewhat rhetorical ...)
Binary is a number system, 0s and 1s. etc {inset other bad jokes about how we abuse language here}

@KorvinStarmast My semi-official advice (coming from my understanding of how they're asking us to moderate things if we have religious sensibilities). Flag anyone who calls you a name you don't like. Don't flag when people talk about things, unless those people are Nazi's.
All I can say is that until Rush makes new album about quantum people, I'll stick with analog and digital.
@KorvinStarmast you mind linking it? I think we lost fred and I'd like to read it.
Now I'm actually kind of perturbed

@KorvinStarmast I hope you'll indulge me for a moment since I see an opportunity to clarify terminology here. (Do note that I'll be glossing over many details.)
"Binary" is about gender; you're either male or female, and this applies even to people where their gender doesn't match their biological sex. People that aren't male or female are "non-binary". "Straight" is about sexual orientation and simply means that you're male, you're attracted to female people and vice versa. "Cisgender" refers to those where their gender and biological sex are the same (i.e. male/male or female/female); others are under the umbrella of "transgender".

@El'endiaStarman And if I am offended by being called a label that I reject. I am male. I am not cis-anything. What do I do, since speech can now be compelled? Can I object to someone not just referring to me as male? Or is that now forbidden? (Yes, this is a little bit of a rhetorical question, as I have no interest in going on a crusade... life's too short and my chain mail armor no longer fits)
@PeterTurner Here is fred's refreshing answer
@PeterTurner They killed fred? What?
