Q: Where do we ask for best translation of a passage?

pterandonShould that happen here or at bible hermeneutics (misspelled)? Say, "This passage is important to me, and I think its more literal translation of blah, blah would get smooth over some controversies, etc....."

Q: Can something be done to these illegible info in the graduated version of the site?

jayyeshuI notices that on the first page of the main site, the time and the reputation scores against the user name are displayed in grey color making them a bit illegible. Would it not be better if they were in some other color making them more prominent?

@ThomasShields The idea of a college student not being allowed to drink is really weird to me.

@davidstratton Any chance I could talk you into using this?

Q: SE Comment Link Helper

Tim Stone About This userscript automatically converts raw Stack Exchange question URLs into the form [title](link) before submitting comments by grabbing their titles from the API. This is similar to conversion done natively on posts, and is in response to this Meta request. The script also tries to ...

@TRiG eh. don't really mind.

You leave great comments with links to relevant questions and meta stuff all the time, but I've clicked edit->save on them literally hundreds of times to automatically pretty format the URL's with titles.

12:55 PM
@TRiG lol, be glad you didn't go to my Uni...
@Caleb awesome, just installed that myself
Tim Stone has cooked up some truly awesome stuff

@waxeagle Meh, I barely drink anyway. Could happily go several months without touching a drop of alcohol: and that's not intentional; I just wouldn't be bothered. It's just weird to think of being in college and underage.

@TRiG true, the drinking age here is...oddly placed. I really don't quite understand why 21 and not 18
The idea that you become age of majority for almost everything else and still can't buy a beer is kind of odd

1:10 PM
@waxeagle Makes quite a bit of sense to me, esp after being an EMT for a few years. 18 is usually the age people get unrestricted access to driving. Giving people a couple years after that to learn the ups and downs of that responsibility before also giving them free reign to alcohol keeps the streets safer for the rest of us.

@Caleb fair enough
and I'm gonna guess we have one of the more driving oriented cultures out there right now

@waxeagle Ya and the statistics on how many people have at least one laps of judgement in their first couple years is huge. Keeping the consequences of those low by limiting exacerbating factors is a significant issue. That's also why many states have implemented multiple stages of restrictions: from permits that require an adult driver to driving curfews or restrictions on # of peers in the car.

@Caleb interesting. Glad to hear they are relying (at least to some degree) on stats when making these decisions.

@waxeagle Over here there are a bunch of different drinking ages: the age at which you can buy alcohol; the age at which you can drink on a licensed premises (which in the UK differs between with food and without food); the age at which you can drink at home (I believe this is 4).

@waxeagle It's definitely a culture specific thing though. The same logic wouldn't make a bean of sense in Turkey. I would have loved to see the drinking age raised to 25 while I was in the states, but I'm perfectly ok with it being 18 in Turkey. The protection here is not in driving restrictions but in the simple fact that having a car is a huge responsibility that a limited number of people even consider taking on until 25-30, even the rich spoiled kids.

1:24 PM
@Caleb interesting. Whereas here the car is seemingly considered a birthright at 16
@TRiG interesting. That makes some sense

@waxeagle Take your pick. Car first or alcohol first, but please don't pass them out together!

@Caleb too true :)

2:12 PM
@waxeagle Partly because of the infrastructure: if society is so constructed that it's impossible to participate without a car, then of course a car is seen as a necessity.
Better urban planning and better public transport infrastructure could help.

@TRiG yep. But we have so many places that are just exceedingly rural. I live not 15 minutes outside of a urban population center and I'm completely in the sticks.

Weird. The downvote arrow is darker grey than the upvote arrow. I was just browsing the site and thought to myself, "Huh? I don't recall downvoting that answer." Then I remembered that the actual downvoted colour is a dark blue.

@TRiG Wow. That's subtle.

@JonEricson Yeah. I don't think it's a real bug: just a momentary confusion.

@TRiG If I were to write the meta post, I'd tag it . Same with the lopsided cross issue @msh210 noticed yesterday. (Hint, hint. ;-)

@JonEricson Okay. Okay. Writing meta post now.

Q: Up and down arrows are different hues

TRiGThe downvote arrow is darker grey than the upvote arrow. I was just browsing the site and thought to myself, “Huh? I don't recall downvoting that answer.” Then I remembered that the actual downvoted colour is a dark blue. Up: #B4B4B4. Down: #9F9F9F. I’m not at all sure how serious this is.

@JonEricson Hint was for TRiG I assume? :-)
Incidentally,

Q: New chat theme usability issue

Jon EricsonPerhaps I'm the only one seeing this: I think the word help is the leftmost option, but I copied a bit more just in case. My eyesight is pretty good, but I can't really read anything other than policy | mobile without straining.

@waxeagle Ah.
@waxeagle Okay, I've commented there.

5:21 PM
@msh210 thanks

5:40 PM
@msh210 I suspect you don't care enough about the lopsided cross to write a meta post on the issue.

@TRiG Indeed I don't.

(Nor do I, to be honest.)

Q: Lopsided cross?

Jon EricsonThe cross that forms the t in Christianity seems a little lopsided. msh210 posted an image on chat that shows the blue on the right is much lighter than the blue on the left: I suspect it's intended to give the cross a slightly 3D effect, but it looks more like something is not quite right.

Q: Automatically delete downvoted annotated posts after a period of time

wax eagleThe moderators here make frequent use of the post annotations. We add things like "citation needed" "insufficient explanation" or other post notices to suggest to both the community and to the author of the post that we'd like to see them add something to the post. Typically these are accompanie...

I usually inline an image from Church Signs Epic Fails. This time around I decided against inlining the second-last.

The Duke Of MarshallSo what's the difference between christianity.stackexchange.com and meta.christianity.stackexchange.com ? There was a reference on another question that got me to wondering.

Q: t in question titles and other larger fonts is too short

wax eagleThe lower case t in question titles and other places where the font is larger than body seems to be poorly formed. It's a bit too short, typically the same height as the top of the curve of the lower case e rather than being a touch above it.
