Just got through chatting with an expert... Not sure what the point was, she couldn't even tell me if Jesus had ever been to Japan.

@PeterTurner how is Eliza?

@PeterTurner I keep clicking never on that popup but it keeps coming up. Doesn't really seem like a good idea for this site anyway.

@fredsbend meh, it will be gone tomorrow

@waxeagle That's the april fools thing?

@fredsbend yup
not as good as past years tbh

@waxeagle What were some past years?

@fredsbend last year we had clippycorn

7:38 PM
@waxeagle ???

@fredsbend moment
2010 they switched everyone's avatar to a unicorn

@waxeagle Funny. Reminds me of that evil paperclip from XP and MS office.
@waxeagle Does the fact that I am suddenly receiving email notifications in plain text have anything to do with this?

@fredsbend his name is clippy
@fredsbend I don't think so

@waxeagle And he should die a horrible death

@fredsbend yes, but he's a meme subject now :)

7:45 PM
@waxeagle I'll go ask on MSO unless you have any ideas why

@fredsbend check the recent features added page, I'm trying to hunt it down right now
nope, no new features
and mine came as HTML last night

@waxeagle There's no option some where?

8:09 PM
@fredsbend was poking it, but I don't see one

@waxeagle on mso now

doesn't seem to be one

lol ^^^

@fredsbend I've definitely seen better eliza implementations

hello

8:34 PM
@iKlsR evening

ah
so im kinda wondering, what exactly does the pope do?

@iKlsR well he has two jobs. He is the head of the Roman Catholic church, he is also the head of state of Vatican City

@waxeagle and that makes him so famous?

@iKlsR well, the Roman Catholic Church is the largest denomination of Christianity. He is also the spiritual heir to the Apostle Peter which gives him a great deal of authority with other chruches (though not the protestants)

@waxeagle ah, ok
@waxeagle personal question if you don't mind, were you born into a christian family or is it something you chose and if the latter, why?

8:39 PM
@iKlsR I was born into a Christian family.

@waxeagle me too but i experimented a bit, still not a 100% where i am

@iKlsR understandable

@waxeagle why do you believe in a God?

@iKlsR that's a complicated question, one that would take more than the 3 minutes I have to explain fully, but I'll make a jab at a start.

@waxeagle understandable, if you have the time please do, im interested

8:44 PM
I believe in God for the following reasons: 1. I believe that too many things have to come together exactly right for the universe to exist for it to be a mere coincidence. 2. I believe that in my own personal life, I have seen things happen in ways that are beyond the realm of chance and 3. I believe in my heart that there is a God. It's part reason (things have happened that are beyond the realm of chance and do not have other explanations) and part faith (I believe it to be true).

fair enough.

@iKlsR I first believe because of Wax's first point. The universe is far too complex not to have been created. Next points for why I chose Christianity is summed up well in a book called more than a carpenter. Short read and about five bucks at a christian book store.

@waxeagle @fredsbend thanks for the replies. it's just in our nature as humans to doubt the existence of things we cannot perceive i guess

@iKlsR Yes. Skepticism is a helpful thing, but only if you are willing to investigate the possibility of a claim being factual.

@fredsbend factual..
@fredsbend all i know of is a book.
(as it relates to the topic at hand)

8:52 PM
@iKlsR Which is filled with quite a few fantastic claims. The book "More than a carpenter" I mentioned previously covers reasons to believe these claims as fact.

@fredsbend i will check out said book, but on several occasions the bible has been known to contradict itself and i believe we as modern day humans have outgrown some of the things in it, even christians.
@fredsbend I can't tell the last time i saw someone sacrificing a goat

@iKlsR Those are all case by case kinds of things. The book was written by over 50 people over a 1600 year timeframe. There is a lot to consider when interpreting. Literally, millions of people have devoted their entire lives to gaining Divine Truth from the Bible, only because it is one of the most complicated topics ever.

@fredsbend agreed

@iKlsR Most Christians hold that Christ's death was the final sacrifice. That's why Christians do not sacrifice.

@fredsbend Im just lost i guess..
@fredsbend fair enough
I will continue trying to find a way, who knows maybe i will make it someday..
@waxeagle @fredsbend thanks alot for the replies, much appreciated

8:58 PM
@iKlsR The C.SE site is filled with questions and most have decent answers. Take a look and even ask a few of your own.
@iKlsR You are welcome

@fredsbend will do and np
