@AffableGeek "But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. ... So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison," (2 Corinthians 4:7,16-17 ESV)
What a great attitude you have and I hope to feel the same when my loved ones face death.

@DavidStratton I see you had voted to close christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/14542/… - do you recall the issue? (editing)

I don't recall voting to close, but looking at it again, if I did vtc it would be on the grounds that it's phrased as an opinion question, and also that children often have the purest faith, so I'd take issue with the idea that her faith was a sign of maturity. False premise and all.

I agree with the last part. I think the idea was that Mary seems to use words that are advanced for her age. Jon goes on to ascribe them to Luke, saying they have "high literary quality". Not really sure how to get that across.

Q: Number of Views Error after 1K views

jcoatWhen a question has been viewed more than a thousand times the "K" gets put before views rather than after the number. Example: 2 // kviews rather than 2K // views.

@Alypius FYI: It seems that Jewish girls in Mary's time would have known the requirements of the law, but might not have been versed in the composition of Psalms. Again, my answer basically ignores the potential (probability?) that the Magnificat was divinely inspired.
