hi
i would like to learn computer programming
C++ to be precise
which would be the best site on this network?
thanks
@AbhimanyuArora learning programming is beyond the scope of the network; we do Q&A. So, if while you're learning, you have a specific question (and don't quickly find an answer on Google, etc.) then stackoverflow.com is the right network site. Also:

Q: The Definitive C++ Book Guide and List

grepsedawkThis question attempts to collect the few pearls among the dozens of bad C++ books that are published every year. Unlike many other programming languages, which are often picked up on the go from tutorials found on the Internet, few are able to quickly pick up C++ without studying a well-written...

That list has several books recommended for people learning C++.

@derobert thanks, that's what i meant. what about online resources :-)
@AbhimanyuArora Not sure about online resources. There are some mentioned in stackoverflow.com/tags/c%2b%2b/info (which is linked from that question)...
But they don't have a nice list of them, like they do books. Not sure why. Maybe the feel that the books are superior. You could try worldcat.org to see if there is a library nearby you can borrow one of the books from.
@derobert that's great! basically at some point i would like to create a facebook kind of website. as a programmar, what would be your advice, i mean should i invest my time in learning c++ or is there a different language?
better programming language
There are a bunch of different languages... I'm pretty sure the first answer for doing a website isn't C++. But I'm not really a web developer, so I'm not sure which are currently preferred. But its probably Ruby, Python, Java, or .Net, depending. Or Node.
You can look search through existing SO (Stack Overflow) questions to get an idea of what people do with different languages.
i see, that's a fantastic idea
thanks and cheers
