The Meta question on pre-release software kind of blew up. It's time to encourage disengagement from the discussion since it has been unproductive. The comment threads contain a mix of useful discussion on site policy and unproductive banter, but it's pretty mixed, often within each comment. There's some value in retaining it, but it would be impractical to do much surgical cleanup.

Can we just move all of the comment threads to chat? That will clean up the thread and encourage people to disengage.
