I have two user accounts on stack exchange, one with 106 reputation and another with 1. When I tried to change the e-mail address to match, it would not let me. A link to the other profile is on both of my profiles.

Q: Downgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 7

Shagun Possible Duplicate: How to backup Windows 7 and revert upgrade to Windows 8 I want to update my windows 7 to windows 8 but before I do so I would like to know if I can revert back to my previous version of windows (ie windows 7) in case of some compatibility issues or otherwise. Also...

this question had one more part that seems to have gone unnoticed
May I post it once again?
Also I have a genuine copy of windows 7 so will I have to purchase the licence key again and will this upgrade or downgrade be similar to a ubuntu upgrade? ( ie safe and smooth)
I am referring to this part

@Shagun If you have a genuine copy why would you need to purchase a license key again?
Whether something is "smooth" can hardly be considered a good question. There are plenty of upgrading guides, and downgrading basically works by just overwriting everything with the backup you took before.

Regarding this answer, I believe it actually attempts to answer the question, so it's fine to stay. The timestamps are the same because you can answer your own questions immediately when you post them:

The FAQ has contained one key bit of advice from the very beginning:

It’s also perfectly fine to ask and answer your own question, as long as you pretend you’re on Jeopardy! — phrase it in the form of a question.

So …

if you have a question that you already know the answer to

if you’d like to document it in public so others (including yourself) can find it later

it is OK to ask, and answer, your own question on a relevant Stack Exchange site.

To be crystal clear, it is not merely OK to ask and answer your own question, it is explicitly encouraged. …

@josh see above, forgot the ping

Was superuser.com/questions/494420/… removed because of the Windows 8 competition?

@CalebJares I closed it because that sort of question is entirely off-topic and not a good fit for the Stack Exchange format. Random deleted it, likely for the same reasons.

Did you think about making it a community wiki? Or is not a proper format for that either.

> No, sorry, we won't make this question Community Wiki just to keep it on-topic. The only reason to do so would be not to generate reputation. Ask Different has a different take on this but probably is the only site on the Stack Exchage netwok that is doing so. It has been repeatedly mentioned that making something Community Wiki is not an excuse for keeping questions that would otherwise be considered not constructive (i.e. joke and fun questions). Cool, thanks!
I wish I hadn't lost 70 rep from it, though :(
