@hansika I think the question is seemingly assuming too many assumptions , as first of all if pendulum swings , due to the tension on the block , block even can't fall vertically and after that talking about oscillations of pendulum makes no sense ig ,So assuming very small oscillations becomes necessity more than for mathematical reasons , and after that acceleration of center of mass is (g-kv/M) , so it should've been of the block
So pseudo force on pendulum (say its mass being m) wrt block's frame is m(g-kv/M) on upward direction and then after finding torque and then finding time period gives me mg/4k as the answer , same as you

this is what I learnt, now I never cared to know why as long as I was able to solve questionsπŸ™ƒ

The force by earth will be towards the center of earth, taking it's components along the tunnel and perpendicular to tunnel , the perpendicular component will be will be cancelled by some normal force and therefore horizontal component will cause the motion as given by above equation.
