Morning Guys @RonTrunk @RonTrunk
12:18
@JukEboX Hello. And Hello again :)
@RonTrunk hey my new switch is showing I have ports I don't actually have
I can disable them right?
I have 24 ether ports
and then it says I have 4 gig ports.
Which I don't have physical ports for
I've never seen that, @JukEboX
If you don't have physical ports, why worry about them?
12:58
Because my security peoiple are going to ask why they are active when they come to certify them
13:14
@JukEboX The latest Cisco switches will have that type of thing for certain uplink modules. For example, The 3850 switches and modules we used had both GigabitEthernet 1/1/1 - 4 and TenGigabitEthernet 1/1/3 - 4, meaning the last two ports were one or the other, depending if it was SFP or SFP+ used. You should be able to shut them down.
