@MiG There's a reason the chuck key keeper wraps around the power cord. It forces you to unplug it to loosen/tighten the chuck!

That's true. My dad taught me, though, to keep it near the plug to enforce the "unplug before changing the bit" thought process. Same reason I keep the safety key & chuck key for my drill press inside the top where the motor goes. I can't turn on the press without getting the safety key out and can't chuck a bit in without getting the chuck key out. One opening of the top gets 'em both. Just a handy reminder to not be stupid.

Funny, I did exactly that all the time... The drill's my dad's (he probably bought it originally a very long time ago), but he's the kind that even after an eye injury has to be handed safety glasses when he's doing a splinter type job
even when I was a kid I remember moving the bit all the way to the plug for that reason :)
