Apologies for the ping that caused for everyone. That convo should probably have been moved much sooner

Thank you. I'm chary about moving conversations I'm part of unless specifically asked.

I totally see that
No worries

@Someone_Evil That was a neat trick on the backgrounds question.

Yeah, I remembered the site does have a lock type for this kind of not-quite-in-the-format question. I just hope it doesn't mess up too many other interactions

1:35 AM
Are there any updates on it still pending (that you know of)?

@Feeds Me too, BW, me too…

Was up last night with a surprise midnight fountain show courtesy of a poorly-tightened fitting on what appears to be an amateur plumbing modification made to our apartment's meter vault.
But there was a lovely orangey-yellow waning gibbous moon, so that was nice.

2:01 AM
hey again @TheDragonOfFlame
@BESW oof :/

@Shalvenay The waterworks guy says it looks like someone replaced a meter with a bit of hose, and last night the hose popped loose sending the water supply for half the building rocketing over the parked cars.

@BESW wow, talk about a bodge job!
or worse, someone trying to rip the water utility off :/
I take it your water utility there is a municipal entity...?

Yeah, they are.

yeah...some people, can't see that they're just ripping themselves off when they go to rip off a public service like that

And I'm not sure exactly what happened, because I don't remember ever seeing a meter in the place where the hose is now--the hose is definitely new though.
There's still the same number of meters as there are apartments the vault is servicing.
But then again, apparently the whole apartment complex's water is hooked up wrong in some way I don't understand but am not surprised by. Our water infrastructure is another case of something that the military installed fifty or more years ago and then turned over to the municipality without documentation, so the waterworks authority doesn't even know where or what all the infrastructure is. They update it as it breaks (which is sometimes how they find where it is).

2:14 AM
@BESW oh boy :/ gotta love being the maintainer of an undocumented $thing

At least with this one we aren't saddled with paying the environmental impact fines for the military's mishandling, like we are with the --and I use this word generously-- landfills.

@BESW yeah, the military was prone to applying field-expedient methods of waste disposal rather broadly

2:38 AM
@BESW ouch
@BESW yay

hey there @linksassin

@Shalvenay G'day, how's things?

@linksassin mostly OK here, as for you?

Not too bad. Settling in at the new job and it's been pretty good so far.

@linksassin cool. had a pretty stressful day at $work over here, glad it's over though. also, need to sit and have a think about how to handle the in-universe faiths for the game I'm DMing
can't run a scene I'd otherwise like to run as a side-scene because of it, but I guess that's OK, managed to improv a delivery means for an important plot point at least
we can talk more on Discord for a bit at least if that works for you?

2:55 AM
@Shalvenay Always happy to chat. But as you're aware I'm not always the best at prompt replies.

Q: What's the procedure for monsters/NPCs using stealth?

stardust_hippiI've been GMing PF2e for a few months, but I still struggle with understanding stealth, especially when it comes to enemies. An example from an upcoming dungeon I'm planning: There's a room with an enemy that's hidden behind some furniture, waiting for someone to get close before coming out to st...

Q: Do/did any major RPGs have "hidden rules" or "spells that do things other than what they say"?

TektotherriggenIt is extremely common for answers on this site to quote either "There are no hidden rules", "Spells do only what they say they do", or often both (example), almost always regarding 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons. There are also a few questions asking where these principles come from (example ...

That's a good list @BESW, thank for updating us on these ☺️
My update is that I had cheese, beans and fried mushrooms in toast and that it was delicious

Q: Which D&D deity has the most comprehensive published religious practices and beliefs?

Richard WintersI've been reading a lot of Brandon Sanderson lately, and the thing I love most about his worlds, aside from the magic systems, is the treatment of religion. The characters have personal beliefs that interact with a societal set of belief systems in a very believable way that also impacts their l...

Q: Can a paladin stack Divine Smite, Thunderous Smite, and Wrathful Smite?

BarkueIs it possible to cast wrathful smite then on the next turn use Divine Smite and thunderous smite stacking with the effects of wrathful smite?

2:16 PM
@HotRPGQuestions Yes, but there'll be an investigation by the Ethical Smiting Review Board.

Is it worth noting that with glyphs you can get multiple smites?

Now you cut that out right now lol

2:44 PM
@goodguy5 I'd say it's worth a "Related" comment.
Stacking smites with glyphs is possible, but it is not at all feasible in the course of typical play.

Do we not have a question on ways to concentrate on two spells at a time and the like?
61
Q: Are there ways to concentrate on more than one spell at a time?

AndyAre there any ways to maintain concentration on more than one spell at a time, or to interrupt and later resume concentration on a spell? I do know the general rules says it can't be done, but the general rules also state that a specific rule beats a general rule.

To be able to do it without the DM giving you a ring of three wishes, you have to do some multiclassiing that sacrifices a lot just for an expensive party trick.
And with a ring of three wishes, it still requires multiclassing.
Here is an answer where I used glpyh to stack smites.

NGL, commenting on deleted posts would be a neat 25k feature.
Or 100k feature. I've very recently decided that I am okay with SE adding privileges at the 100k level.

Deleted posts have very little oversight, so commenting on deleted posts would be a potential vector for abuse that could go undetected for a while. (With sites such as SO, yes, that's still a concern even at that rep level.) It's currently a moderator-only feature and likely to remain that way.

@Mithical Yeah, that's about what I figured.

Higher rep privileges would also de-incentivize bounties, no?

@BESW Could be, that's probably an easily testable theory.
I'll look into it on SEDE.
Average bounty per user per rep.

Alex SashThe hozu are a race of humanoid monkeys who live in dense forests and jungles of high elevation.
