My next wizard is going to store his clone inside his body, so that when he dies, a new wizard erupts from his corpse, naked and full of fury.

12:25 AM
@Axoren sounds like the sort of thing Usidor would do

We just happened to run from a failed encounter to the exact bar where our wizard had hidden his clone (not a bs ass-pull, this bar literally happens to have been where he stored his clone), and the encounter followed us here. He killed himself in a tactical maneuver to resurrect as his clone with full resources, but this led to him rushing into the room, naked, moist, with bits of broken ceramic all over his body.
We are currently in "not gonna win this" stage.

12:41 AM
@Axoren sounds tricky

Q: Is the Magic Stone cantrip as terrible as it seems beyond the first tier of play?

Darth PseudonymOne of the players in my game is playing an Artificer. Upon gaining 5th level, he commented to me that magic stone is great at 1st level, but awful compared to every other damage-focused cantrip as soon as they start adding damage dice. He announced that he was trading it for a different cantrip ...

@BESW Similarly, in actual D&D games I tend to bring in evil mage English of History, who’s only funny to people who took WHAP at my school in the last 40-something years
@bobble cool!
Mostly I just play around with adding in the auri to the latest book I read — this week’s written-in-my-mind-fanfic-story-thing has been for either Sorcery & Cecelia, which I was reading for book club, or State Tectonics, which I was rereading for no good reason. Or the usual standby, Star Trek

All of my "main characters" are gay because no one can tell me otherwise - but that is the only thing that stays constant :)

Q: Can Magic Jar posses zombie bodies?

João GrandoThe Animate Dead spell and Magic Jar both need a "humanoid body" to target. Can I target a zombie with Magic Jar? Or can I target only a non-zombie humanoid dead body with Magic Jar?

Q: How can I convey my disappointment in players ignoring huge hints

Olivier GrégoireYesterday's game was nice and intense, but at some point my fellow players disappointed me, heavily. We're not allowed to say technical things about the game. Basically we had this dragon that was very much damaged, prone and slowed. The monk knocked the dragon prone and said "Attack him with you...

@BESW that looks excellent

Answered why we shouldn't be stringent about enforcing the pronoun usage guidance - if you want to see any particular argument in that answer, then let me know. rpg.meta.stackexchange.com/a/11636/44723

Odd question: is a question about writing technique as it relates to character backstory for a LARP on topic? There's a larp set in Rokugan I want to attend once it happens (most likely 2022) and my character has this one backstory thing, but that character is undefined by design because that character was planned to be another player's character - which does/didn't yet exist. However I have cliffnotes about my character and the travels and want to write some about that backstory...
like, some sort of travel diary.
now my problem is: how to refer to that other character that I know nothing about? I can of course refer to them as "A certain person [of rank]" which is a wording that happens in real literature, but that becomes bothersome and I can't really tall about that characters actions like that...

@Trish did you miss a word between "character" and the -?

@AncientSwordRage no, the other player's character does not exist... technically that player is yet unknown. As in, it is a spot that might or might not be filled.

11:56 AM
Who is the other character?

lemme look up what much notes I got on that one...
I have a name (Doji Seikei) but no gender, I know they are a courtier-of-some-sorts (or had done political service), and my character was their Bodyguard during the clan war (the game is set about a year or such after that ended.)
everything else is in flow and even that name is more of a placeholder.

12:15 PM
Ah ok, so it's about a flexible backstory of sorts?

12:26 PM
Yes. I need to keep that backstory as undefined as possible as that other player could want to be any other combination of crane clan stuff... I mean, they might want to be an Asahina or Daidoji courtier. Or a Daidoji Harbinger masquerading as a Doji Courtier or something. Or just a Doji courtier.

@Trish of you give as much detail in the question as you've given me, that's completely stackable

the question is here or somewhere else?

Here
Oh I mean main site

heh, yea, wrting it...

@Trish argle, why does that answer have upvotes?

@NautArch dunno..
[Redacted]would work for a modern setting, but not a medieval, and especially not a Rokugan setting

I'm going to flag as NAA

I am not even sure that a certain person of reputation is familiar with either LARP or Rokugan.

Flagged for mod as unsupported and not relevant

@Trish -- added some questions to that question. I don't know how much you really have to define about what you have to say. Like...
"Observation from a certain town with a riverbank choked by reeds. Humans may train to hide from other humans, but who trains to hide from the wind? As I knelt in meditation I observed an odd stillness in the reeds, and in but a moment, pivoted and struck. I believe this is when I was first given the name, 'Swordsman of the Impossible Eyes'."

9:51 PM
"Observation from a journey conducted by riding beast. I have heard it said that the highest form of swordsmanship is to abandon the mind and train the body to react, becoming a sort of 'sword-animal'. I do not know the truth of this. But it is very different to become accustomed to the motion of a barge, which only feels the tide and does not react, and the motion of an animal, which feels the world the way you do and reacts in ways you would not."

@Glazius generally... a travel journal can contain almost anything, from "the road west of Otoosan Uchi was muddied by heavy rain showers and in a bad condition, and so we had to halt in a nearby town." to "The lands of the Dragon are harsh but their people friendly. It was good fortune, that it was summer or we might have been halted far from the road we were meant to take."
heh... Found a style guide that mmight be nice: wakapoetry.net/poems/anthologies/kokinshu - chapter 9... thought hat is more poems...

Yeah, I was gonna ask, am I remembering it right that Kakita is going to lean toward the poet swordsman? It's been a while but I think it's like, while Kakita and Crane are both going to have poet swordsman, the Cranes are poets because swording should be beautiful and poetry is beautiful, while the Kakita are poets because swording should be traditional and poet swording is traditional?
Or have I got them backwards?

10:10 PM
@Glazius Kakita are the crane duellists or aritsts, and some do go the poet way.

Ha, yeah, it's been a while.

you might make that an answer from that by the way..

11:03 PM
I might indeed.

@Carcer you know who isn't a great ape? The one that throws his poop at me and farts on me in Sekiro
