Q: Does the Orc's 'Aggressive' racial trait allow you to move with a grappled target as long as you move toward it?

Cyanic Aggressive. As a bonus action, you can move up to your movement speed toward a hostile creature you can see or hear. You must end this move closer to the enemy than you started. That last clause seems to indicate the negative, since a grappled creature would move with me even if I was moving to...

Q: Can two spells with AOEs intersect each other?

CenzoIf my Triton character casts Wall of Water and my friend who is a Warlock casts Hunger of Hadar, can both of these spells intersect one another? My DM does not know to how to respond to this question. Both spell descriptions say centered at a point you can see within range I was thinking the wa...

Ah yes, the wonderful Wall of Hunger.

6:30 AM
@BESW Or the Water of Hadar...

The Hunger of Water would be a good name for a del Toro sequel.

I think I prefer the Wall of Hadar to the Wall of Hunger. I’d way rather be scared on a full stomach than be hungry

I don't think I can choose between those two things
I would rather have infinite food and never be scared XD

@trogdor same. But if I had to choose I’d choose ... wait a second, in both cases I could just walk away

lol

For people who downvoted What is the process for establishing and maintaining policies? - it is now in a state that looks healthy, I would enjoy seeing more input by different people.

Q: Has anyone tested the effect of allowing cantrips to be repeatedly cast between battles?

Mister BShort Version: Some characters have cantrips (or unlimited-used abilities) that they would like to have in combat, like Shillelagh. Has anyone tested or experienced methods of allowing these to be ready in advance? Long Version: I have a player who wants to build an Arcana Cleric who uses Shillel...

@Akixkisu I wouldn't be surprised if people just avoid answering it
Okay, now I might open a Meta about listing answers since I saw a comment basically saying "This list is not a complete list of all the answers" which I was not aware was expected and seems untenable or at least unfair and prevents a question from having multiple answers :(

I'm historically a fan of one answer per answer, myself.
Otherwise it's impossible to vote on how useful an answer is.

Oh by "list of all answers" I mean when the question is something like "When does this game use X?" or "When does the game do Y?" or "How can I Z?"
Each of which has multiple different, uh, methods/answers

Hmm that'd depend on the use case, I think.

Yeah, I just think expecting every answer to "What features let me reroll dice" to list all the features is, idk, absurd

'cause, like, "How can I Z?" is almost every question we get, and each answer should be a way to Z. But if "What are all the possible ways to Z?" is the question, then it's harder to answer but we have an established guideline for fixing it: solving a real problem.

11:36 AM
It means answers should be identical for the most part, and people who find missing things would basically just copy-paste an already existing answer and add one or a few more things to a list

"What features let me reroll dice" is not a problem to be solved. It's a reference question, at best. If the asker can instead explain what problem has led them to want to know this information...

@BESW It was because they're playing a "luck" character. But also, we have a lot* of reference list questions. I have a whole list of them actually and there are... 275 right now XD
Course, I also stopped updating it after I had what I felt was "enough", there's definitely plenty more out there
I probably won't open any sort of Meta, I'm just kinda annoyed at inconsistent expectations, though... It's probably consistent for an individual and just varies person-to-person

12:11 PM
Hhhhmmm. It occurs to me that Danger Patrol: Pocket Edition might be hackable for a Crystal Maze game.
(I've been watching a lot of the old Richard O'Brien era Crystal Maze episodes lately, they're weirdly relaxing and I love the combination of craft and clodge.)

12:50 PM
@Medix2 I've been thinking about this for a while, and I think the common association of lucky characters with rerolling dice is a puzzling case of meta handling of a mechanic being mistaken for in-the-campaign-world events taking place.
From an in-character perspective, there is no difference between succeeding at a roll thanks to getting a +N dice to the pool, and succeeding the roll due to rolling the pool twice thanks to the player spending a limited-use resource that the character is not aware of (and usually PCs are not aware of their luck use pools, in most games I've seen), so long as the number of successes in the end result is the same.

1:13 PM
@BESW Oh, interesting. Are you thinking multiple parts for each puzzle or multiple puzzles at a time?

Haven't got any particular details nailed down.
Mostly noodling about how the "other players add d4s to your roll by describing complications" would probably map rather nicely to "other players shout supposedly helpful advice and encouragement."
Yes, you get more dice, yey! They're also 1-in-4 chances to get extra Bad Stuff.
You'd also need a "the host takes pity on you" feature.

@BESW I just remembered that rpgbotnet has some PF2 guides for races and classes. Not sure if that's the sort of resources you're after but it exists

Q: Does Yellow Mold continue to damage a creature that's already at 0 HP (causing failed death saves)?

FabicIf a creature is in the area of a cloud of spores ejected by Yellow Mold (DMG, p. 105) when it is touched, and the creature fails a DC 15 Con saving throw, it becomes poisoned. In addition: While poisoned in this way, the creature takes 5 (1d10) poison damage at the start of each of its turns. ...

Good morning!

@RevenantBacon myself and @doppelgreener do
@GcL battlesmith kobold is now on my To Build list
@BESW I should do that too
@BESW seems really interesting

6:14 PM
@AncientSwordRage more in a theoretical sense at the moment lol
i am someone who has been known to play it in the past and may play it again in the future

@doppelgreener are you me?
I do play on arena occasionally though
@BardicWizard morning!

@AncientSwordRage it has turned from a good morning to a bad morning due to the weather remaining stubbornly not rainy.

@BardicWizard oh no, did you want rain?
I had grand plans to walk to town and pick up some MTG boosters but that plan was scuppered by rain

6:32 PM
@AncientSwordRage well, it’s still a drought here, but beyond that, yesterday was pretty much the first rain of the fall/winter and I love it when it’s super overcast and rainy and you can snuggle into the couch with a blanket and a good book and the “rainy day opera” playlist from three years ago

@BardicWizard that's such an amazing kind of day

@doppelgreener I know! I was hoping to do it again today but no, the sky disagrees with me
It’s even better when it started raining during ballet class (back in the day when we could do such things) and then we played “chips” on the bike racks in the rain and we still had to cross the city in the nice warm car and it’s honestly one of my favorite random memories that happened more than once
I really love rain.

rain is nice

6:56 PM
@trogdor definitely.

I don't like it if I get caught out in it and get soaked or something but otherwise it's pretty nice
for roughly half the year I wake up to the sound of rain outside which is definitely a perk
XD

@BardicWizard that sounds great

Anyone tried this with kids? Looks kind of like an advanced roll for shoes:

@JohnP it sounds like something Nits and I had a go with a while ago?

@Shalvenay was it good?

Q: Spell which causes grapple

Lucas BaldoLet me start by pointing out that I'm new to Pathfinder. I've played some Dnd and now our DM is migrating our campaing to PF2e. I'm planning to build a new character, some necromancer of sorts, and I would very much like for it to have a specific spell. I'm trying to find a spell (up to lvl 6) wh...

10:00 PM
@JohnP Yes, if all you're looking for is slightly-structured storytelling, with an excuse to roll a die to see what happens every once in a while (entirely under GM control), it's a great intro to RPGs, especially for its target audience of kids.
I have some thoughts on RPG products for kids I wrote up a while back starting at chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/11?m=54788570#54788570 if you're interested.
But I wouldn't say Amazing Tales is like Roll For Shoes, other than both of them have a real small ruleset. Roll For Shoes is more learning about your character through play, while Amazing Tales you do a more "traditional" make a character first and then play him or her through an adventure. Though character creation is a whole lot shorter than in D&D, and even shorter than in stuff like Fate Accelerated, it's still there and there's no sense of "character progression" built into Amazing Tales.

10:33 PM
@AncientSwordRage I liked it, although I'm not sure if it's precisely the same thing that I'm thinking of?

@JohnP nope, but in general I have a lot of opinions on RPGs for kids. I play stuff with my younger siblings sometimes and so if you have someone in the 5-8 age range I would advise finding something like that where the story is the most important part. Also, just a word of advice: don’t expect anything. Kids do the strangest things (like demand “the funny shaped dice” and decide that everyone in space has “an ATV like Ryder’s!”)
(I didn’t try that cause I can’t afford it off my allowance)

11:20 PM
The rules for Amazing Tales are free: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/307521/Amazing-Tales-Quickstart
Though they basically boil down to "roll a die for your skill; three or better is success" and that's the extent of the resolution mechanics. The full book is just a bunch of advice on playing with children and some good setting & adventure ideas.
