hey there @nitsua60

Do you have an opinion about games and diversity? Can you write 500 words about that opinion for our Game As You Are series? Do you like getting paid for your work? Send a pitch to hello@queerlyrepresent.me We're seeking more diverse contributors, and more diverse topics!

@Joshua Isn't that the crux of every 'peace-keeping' mission in history?

@linksassin Hey, there's an RPG for that.

1:27 AM
sorry linksassin was in transit
Well hmmm, I suppose you could say that but I meant the apocalyptic rider War.

Q: When does the attacker choose the damage type dealt by a weapon with multiple damage options?

user55434Take a longsword, for example. Does the attacker choose piercing or slashing before they make the attack roll, after the attack roll is made but before the damage roll, before they make the damage roll, or even as the last part of the attack, after all the numbers are said and done?

Boy Problems, a Carly-Rae-Jepsen-themed heist tabletop RPG one-shot by Colin Cummings.

@BESW Today on things that shouldn't exist....

It looks pretty fun to me.

Reminds me of Honey Heist or Trash Pandas

I'm not a huge fan of her work personally but it still looks like a cool premise for a game

@BESW grabbyhands

And yeah for some it might just be like, perfect
At least in concept XD

@BESW Now I want an RPG that plays like a spy thriller themed around high school activity clubs.

@Yuuki I'm pretty sure there's a Bubblegumshoe drift for that, but it might also be set in a high school on Mars.

D&D 5e build question:
My Fiend-patron tomelock (in a West Marches-style game) just hit level 12, which means I get an ASI and a new invocation. I haven't chosen either yet.

Current ability scores: 10 Str, 12 Dex, 16 Con, 10 Int, 12 Wis, 20 Cha.
Current invocations: Agonizing Blast, Book of Ancient Secrets, Devil's Sight, Repelling Blast, Mask of Many Faces
(Current spells: Hex, Scorching Ray, Hypnotic Pattern, Fireball, Thunder Step, Fire Shield, Banishment, Sickening Radiance, Synaptic Static, Hold Monster, Far Step - that doesn't include cantrips or rituals from Book of Ancient Secrets)

Is your AC actually 12, or have you done something to it already?
Also, is UA on the table?

13
studded leather
UA requires special approval
any PHB feats are fine besides Lucky; no racial feats

Gah, yeah. Sorry, I have trouble remembering the exact numbers for light armour beyond "slightly worse than mage armour/draconic resilience/etc.

Ouch that low AC must hurt a lot. Have you found it to be an issue?

So Moderately Armoured would be an obvious pick if you wanted to bring that up a bit - +5 AC for one feat is...pretty good value.
The fact that you're asking for an ASI/feat at the same time as an invocation makes me want to suggest Spell Sniper + Eldritch Spear. But as much as it appeals to me, it's not really that useful.

3:37 AM
@Miniman Disadvantage on stealth though, and the cost of the armour itself. Though I do agree it is worth it

@linksassin yeah, I'm not sure if this char is trying to be a stealther in the first place though

I gotta say, I don't love the invocation options. Beguiling Influence is cool if you didn't already take the skills.

I agree, you've already picked up most of the good invocations. The Spell Sniper + Eldritch Spear isn't terrible.
Though I would be focusing on boosting AC and Moderately Armoured is the biggest buff you can get
Other option would be ASI +2 Dex and Armour of Shadows for Mage Armour at will
Only gets to AC15 though.

3:56 AM
Mage Armor would only increase my AC by 1. Moderately Armored would get me to 15, or 16 with Stealth disadvantage (+1 more if I increased Dex; and another +2 if I equipped a shield).
but in general I rarely get hit because I'm already in the back line. if enemies are targeting my AC, I'm usually already in trouble because my front line is down
@Miniman definitely already proficient in those :P

@V2Blast Yeah, if you don't care about Stealth moderately armoured with a shield is way better.

@V2Blast Yeah, Beguiling Influence is weird like that, since most warlocks will have taken both of those at level 1. It works better if you're starting at higher levels.

I've had the following suggestions from a discussion elsewhere: Alert, Moderately Armoured, +2 Dex - they also suggested Tough or +2 Con, but HP wasn't the biggest priority, so I figured Resilient (Con) would be a better boost to Con saves (prof. bonus is +4 now, +5 at next level) instead

@V2Blast Resilient (Con) is great for concentration. But I would take the AC buff
You don't need AC, until you do. It sucks to discover that you got killed by a multi-attack rolling 14s when you could have upp-ed your AC.

4:18 AM
Honestly, I have trouble understanding how you've made it to level 12 with AC that low and not either died or been forcibly compelled to the conclusion that it's a problem.
Especially in a West Marches game.
Given that that's happened, it may well be that AC is meaningless for you.

Ascendant Step could be useful utility. Eldritch Sight similarly, Eyes of the Rune Keeper again utility. Fiendish Vigor for temp HP at will is useful. Grasp of Hadar gives more control when combined with repelling blast. Whispers of the Grave can be good utility depending on the DM.

@linksassin Fiendish Vigor is much less useful on a Fiend-patron warlock since I already get temp HP when I kill a hostile creature

@V2Blast Ah, good point.

@V2Blast Alert is definitely a solid choice for anyone. Er, especially someone with an AC of 13. I'm not a big believer in taking both War Caster and Resilient (although that's generally coming from the POV of having Resilient and thinking about War Caster, rather than the reverse.)
I'd agree that hp probably doesn't matter for you; AC doesn't seem to matter, so hp probably won't either.

everyone in the West Marches game (the Guild) gets 1 free revive... somehow I haven't died yet

4:31 AM
As a side note, the reason Resilient > War Caster: the vast majority of saves you make to maintain concentration are against DC 10. That being the case, your minimum is more important than your average, so a higher modifier is better than advantage.
Also, Resilient helps you with other Con saving throws too, and while they're probably the rarest of the common saving throws, they can be very nasty on a fail.
Obviously none of this matters if you need War Caster to be able to cast with your hands full.

22
A: Does the Resilient (Con) feat or the War Caster feat most improve the chances of maintaining concentration?

RuseThe proficiency bonus determines which feat is superior. I made a "success chance vs DC" graph to compare Resilient and War Caster. How to read the graph. War Caster is blue, while Resilient is red. By default1 the solid lines have 2 CON as that is a reasonable modifier for casters. The blue ...

6:11 AM
@linksassin btw I already have Detect Magic and Comprehend Languages as rituals as a tomelock. so Eldritch Sight (at-will Detect Magic) just saves me a few minutes, and Eyes of the Rune Keeper saves me a spell slot and losing concentration (on Hex, usually) - both in what is usually already a non-time-sensitive situation

@V2Blast Those are pretty fair reasons not to take them then. I think I would consider Grasp of Hadar for all the enemy moving shenanigans.

@linksassin Did that one make it out of UA?

6:33 AM
@Miniman I think so? It's listed on DnDBeyond now

yes
XGtE

Ah, nice. I can never remember which ones made it through, just that most of the cool ones didn't.

6:50 AM
If you have both you can actually move an enemy sideways. Push them 10ft with first blast; run 10 feet sideways; pull them 10 feet toward your new position; In total they have moved sideways 5 ft. Useful for lining up the wizard's lightning bolt or pushing them into the druid's entangle or moonbeam

It'd take 2 turns, though, so they'd have a chance to reposition. Unless you're one of those dirty sorlocks, of course.

@Miniman No. In a single turn. You can push/pull with each blast. And you have multiple. And you can move between them

@linksassin I was with you right up until "you can move between them". You're casting a spell, not taking the Attack action - you don't get to fire a beam, do whatever you want, fire another beam, do something else...you cast the spell, and the beams fire. Instantaneously, you might say.

@Miniman Sage advice says you can: sageadvice.eu/2017/01/02/…

dangit, chat, stop double-posting and not-posting and not embedding properly

@V2Blast For some reason I couldn't get that link to embed either. Don't know why

weird
anyway, this rule applies to weapon attacks specifically: dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/combat#MovingBetweenAttacks
no rule for moving between multiple attacks for a single spell

@V2Blast Oh... I totally misread that tweet. I thought it said "No, the general rule says you can" my bad...

lol

@Miniman You are totally right. Ignore me.

Sorry, chat died for a while there.

7:04 AM
Solution: Multiclass into sorcerer and quicken spell. Move them all over the place.

@linksassin Like I said, dirty sorlocks :P
Although they can also get way more movement out of it that way.

@Miniman It does seem to be the most broken multiclass in the game.

@linksassin Mystic might bump it if it ever sees the light of day.

@Miniman Haven't seen that one. Assume it is UA? I wasn't including that because there is a lot of broken stuff in there that gets fixed before release

@linksassin Yeah, they had a couple of attempts at an all-in-one psionic class.

7:17 AM
@Miniman I never really got into psionics, it just doesn't feel like something the system can handle.

My understanding is that they've scrapped the idea and gone back to their core philosophy of "jam everything into subclasses".

Hmm... not sure that's better. Trying to get a feature like that into a subclass seems like a terrible idea.

old UA. overtuned mess. basically creates its own list of spells (that aren't spells) and other abilities, that often are better than other class' similar abilities at that level

Anybody here have experience with a base under siege adventure that you really enjoyed?

@linksassin Yeah, I'm not a fan of it as a general philosophy.

7:25 AM
it's also overly versatile, so it can basically be better at any given role more than another class

@V2Blast So 5e Cleric, only even more overtuned

There's a ton of subclasses that are a good concept, but being a subclass rather than a real class stretched them so thin they're not really fulfilling the concept anyway. (Arcane Archer, for example.) Then there's subclasses where they stretched the subclass to fit the concept, like Hexblade, and it's just better than the other subclasses.

@V2Blast Sounds like a common issue with psionics tbh

@Miniman and then there's classes that barely justify being a class at all... like ranger
:P

@Miniman Yep. This.

7:27 AM
Er, more powerful, rather than better. I'd hate for anyone to think I see the hexblade as a good thing.

@V2Blast TBH Ranger would be more balanced if they just took the Eldritch Knight progression and gave it nature abilities. That's what it used to be anyway.
@BESW Which side of the siege are you on?

@linksassin The inside.

I still think the core problem with Ranger is a lack of identity - they're not sure what the concept actually is.
5

It's the classic Doctor Who formula, which I don't have a lot of satisfying experiences replicating in RPGs.

@BESW Unfortunately I'm in the same boat. I assume it has something to do with lack of options or agency while under siege but I'm not certain. It is difficult to pull off at best.

7:31 AM
> The Doctor arrives in an enclosed area, where a small group of people (usually technically-minded scientists and/or soldiers) are under some form of attack. The Doctor helps them defeat the enemy, but with great difficulty; there are often heavy casualties. The stories have a claustrophobic feel to them, urgent pacing, and tight suspense.
The one RPG space I've found they work really well is as fodder for Cthulhu Dark adventures; both of my most successful CD games are direct ripoffs of classic DW base under siege stories.

@Miniman It's Aragorn, but also Legolas, but don't step on the toes of real fighters, and don't be a druid, or a cleric, or a bard. And you can be sneaky, but only in nature otherwise you are a rogue.
@BESW I did play a 2-shot side quest in Dread RPG that worked alright for Dr. Who type pacing and fear.
All your mechanics are based around a Jenga tower and the physical challenge side of it adds the suspense.

@linksassin You forgot animal companions, spells, and favoured enemy.

I'm aware of Dread, though I haven't played it yet; it's a bit harder when at least half the players are usually online.

We were escaping an alien on a spaceship type scenario. Find the captain -> Fix the controls -> Get to the escape pod -> get out alive

@Miniman I think Gimli counted as both the first and the last in that list.

7:36 AM
lol

@BESW Yeah it's not one that works for remote play. But I do recommend it for pacing and tension in that type of game
I can honestly say I've never been more nervous in RPGs than I was making just one skill check in that system
@Miniman Favoured enemy was meant to be Aragorn and Legolas. Spells was the don't be a druid or cleric bit. Animal companion... well don't be a pathfinder druid...

7:50 AM
@linksassin But personally I think it's more interesting to consider what our individual perceptions of the ranger are than the weird mess WotC came up with.
To me, the ranger will always be an archer with an animal buddy.

@Miniman Use a system like Fate to make your own ranger!
@Miniman [makes animal with an archer buddy]

@BESW Or even to make characters who don't have to fit into predefined boxes? :P

@Miniman [gestures upward at Grim Jim]

But yeah, spells have always seemed out of place on the ranger to me, and favoured enemy is just...where did this come from? Who thought this was a good idea?

@Miniman AD&D mentions Diana and Orion as inspirations.
Also Aragorn kiinda had magic, in that LotRy "hands of a healer" kind of way.

8:39 AM
nitsua's response to this (now-deleted) answer by a spambot (which starts: "A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.") made me laugh:
...are embeds just not working in chat in general?
"Not bad advice, but not an answer."

8:55 AM
@Miniman best feature of fate
granted, you still have to fit into the predefined “dramatic competent proactive history for an action adventure story” box
the Cortex system is in a similar position

Sorry, chat died on me again.
@BESW I guess I always saw this as part and parcel of the whole "nature skills" bit (cos, yanno, herbs). Which I didn't actually mention, but in my experience it's always been the only thing about the ranger that everyone agreed on.

@Miniman [reluctantly dons LOTR NERD hat]

A: How can Tauriel use athelas if she is not a queen?

BESWTauriel's use of kingsfoil in the film is a legitimate extrapolation of known LotR canon. There's nothing definitive on this, but it seems that while athelas is useful in the hands of any healer (Gondorian healers used it for headaches), the people of Gondor have noticed that it's especially eff...

@BESW Nice hat! And all totally fair points, although I will give a shoutout to the Numenorians for having lived closer to whatchamacallit than anyone other than certain elves.

9:11 AM
@BESW neat!
@Miniman not just you, it's been dropping out for several of us

9:31 AM
The party has discovered an Oni and several hobgoblins guarding a chest. Unfortunately for our GM, he let us talk to them before attacking. We are now angry on behalf of the oni who has been trapped for years guarding this chest and demanding that he talk to his union rep.

@BESW You don't leave a poor Lum trapped for years guarding a chest.

He has to keep guarding the treasure chest, so we are offering to carry the chest to the union rep so he can leave.

@BESW This kinda reminds me Fairy Tail. An anime where to summon a star spirit you first have to make a contract. Which includes work hours, free days and so on.

@doppelgreener Ah, right.

@V2Blast a comment on a deleted post won't embed I think

9:39 AM
ah, that makes sense

10:23 AM
@BESW that's a weird undertale crossover
and Toriel IS a queen, technically

I'm faintly reminded of the "First wish" discussions concerning Disney's interpretation of Aladdin

@Carcer for no reason specifically do you prefer athelas or cinnamon?
@kviiri you mean the removal of the ring, arbitrary wishes limit and so on?

@Derpy I mean the bit where it's apparently up to debate whether the Genie ever fulfilled his first wish to Aladdin (that being, to make Al into a prince)

@kviiri I assume that hinges on the fact that it is unclear if he was a prince or just looking like one?
Doubt it can be determined since I kinda remember Jafar reverting that wish, so there is no way to confirm if Aladdin was the prince of something before being revoked his temporary status.

There's a case for considering that the Genie cannot just magick someone into being a prince, but what he can definitely do is magick someone to appear one for long enough to get married to a princess --- making him actually a prince as well
So the theory of the unspent first wish claims that the genie was in the process of fulfilling the first wish the best he could, but (temporarily) failed as Aladdin's plans to marry into nobility were interrupted by Jafar's scheming

10:44 AM
@kviiri Well, the original had the genie build an enormous palace filled with any sort of riches. Aladdin leaves a single window unfinished and ask the sultan to finish it. The sultan is then forced to admit he doesn't even own enough gold/gems to build one single window like the other ones...

that's gotta suck to have to admit

So it seems that it was intended to have the power to create any form of matter he needed to.
altering other perceptions to make it seems that "Prince Ali" was always a thing or that he was indeed born noble and not just popped out of nowhere...

@Derpy so naturally people come and ransack the castle for all its window frames, since each individual one alone is worth more than all the treasure a king holds, so they should be able to be melted down to make a lot of people crazy rich?
then they probably also take all the door handles for good measure

lol
then inflation goes all crazy and everyone is poor now
because everyone has one of the windows
so they are worthless

@doppelgreener Tomb of Horror used to have ADAMANT and MITHRILL doors. Then, in the remakes they had to change it to "metal enchanted to look like adamant" because most would just prefer stealing the doors and flee than entering the actual hell-on-earth trap-filled mess the tomb was....

10:53 AM
@Derpy That's about creating wealth though, but being a prince is about more (this is actually quite important in many Medieval societies; even the wealthier burghers were often excluded from the aristocracy)

@Derpy lol, sounds about right

@Derpy LOL
fantastic

Formerly, in England, the crown occasionally raised funds by selling titles of nobility to wealthy commoners

I think the idea was, that if he got people to think he was royalty and then married the princess he would actually be royalty
both because people believed it and by technicality
but then I guess people could argue that people believing it was enough by itself (or that it wasn't)

11:20 AM
^ took a while. Comes from the official download that WotC put up for free on their own site years ago.
See the text there, they knew stealing the doors had become kinda of a meme.

hehehehehe

> it's too expensive for the demons to keep replacing adamantite doors.
3
someone actually did the math... came out that the original door where worth about some... bilions coins.

I mean, Adamantine weapons were expensive as heck
two whole huge doors were probably enough to make like a couple dozen weapons
unless they were great axes that would probably be like 6-8 or something
but either way it's a ton of an expensive material

that could buy a lotta chicken nuggets

even demons don't have the cash to keep replacing that
XD
heck they are probably more worried about running out of the Adamantine rather than money for it
it's supposed to be rare

11:29 AM
I seem to remember that my screen is not the first reference to the stealing thing.... somewhere else there is supposed to be a reference to the mithrill doors being replaced too

PixelMasterIn Xanathar's Guide to Everything on page 59, there is an image of a war mage with some kind of creature on his shoulders. 12:54 PM
okay, that's better
you took long enough to find that one that it's almost humanly plausible

The Rule of Fantasy Apostrophes is easy to find; people don't say "boing" in chat very much, and I quote it semi-regularly.

Are you encouraging us to say "boing" more often?

it sounds like you're encouraging us to say boing more often.
@Derpy that's different. Who doesn't instantly recognise the hayshakes from that episode

@Carcer Congratulation. You passed the test. Now you are officially included in the list of users that "know MLP and can be safely entertained with ponies memes"

This player is a lot braver than me. I am all for creative solutions, but gaining mechanical benefit, when the rules don't explicitly support it is something else entirely. The only option that seems acceptable RAW is the staff of bait (as you have to "place" the objects above the staff)

@Carcer was trying to find the picture from the LoE hide&seek event where you could notice me in the background. No luck though.

Q: What is Feeblemind's effect on Ability Score Improvements?

AlkOur Bard had the Feeblemind spell cast on him and failed his save. The battle ended and we gained a level. Feeblemind states that: On a failed save, the creature's Intelligence and Charisma scores become 1. While under the effects of Feeblemind would an ASI be permanently wasted if taken in...

2:55 PM
That's my initial sense.

1. Not allowed: the objects have to be placed above the staff, the staff can't be used as an appendage to "pick objects up"
2. See 1.
3. Allowed, IF you put the lumps of meat there
4. Holding 3 lamps is okay, but RAW, there would be no increased brightness from doing so (although as DM, I generally permit the radius of light sources to increase by X' every time you double the number of light sources)
5. Not Allowed: you can hold the stones above the staff, but they would not add any kind of attack damage, because this would constitute creating an Improvised Weapon.

@Xirema I'm not sure on 7. The items have language like:
> you can splash the contents of this flask onto a creature within 5 feet of you or throw it up to 20 feet, shattering it on impact.
I think it has to be thrown to shatter RAW, not just crashed into something
(although a GM can certainly use RACS here)

@DavidCoffron I think I interpret that language differently, i.e. "It will DEFINITELY break, don't try to reuse the vial afterwards!", not "it must be thrown or it won't shatter!"

@Xirema Right , but hitting it with the staff is not "throwing it 20 feet". I could see being able to "splash the contents onto a creature", but that is supposed to take your action in itself
If you allow any shattering event to cause the effect of the item, there are some balance issues
(I'm thinkin catapult for one)

3:11 PM
@DavidCoffron What, like loading up a sack full of vials of acid and Catapulting them onto a specific target?

@Xirema That would be one such abuse I can think of
Another could just be tying many of them to a stick and hitting a target

So I alluded to this with the lamps thing above, but one of my houserules, broadly applied, is "doubling the number of objects→increasing the effect by 1dX". So if someone loaded a Catapult up with 5 vials of Acid, the effect on impact wouldn't be 10d6, it would be 4d6 (1→2→4 doubled twice, so +2d6 damage).
Pro-tip: all balance problems can be solved with Log Scales.
So if someone loaded a catapult up with Vials of Acid, I'd swap out the 3d8 bludgeoning damage with 4d6 acid damage. Slight improvement, at the cost of 5 vials of acid. Seems fair to me.
I am generally more permissive with rules if it involves significant expenditure of resources.
Conversely, if my players somehow find a way to deal 32d6 Acid damage by dropping 1.074 Billion vials of Acid on a dragon at the same time, I kind of feel like I need to allow it, you know? =D

Those are all possible houserules, but the RAW is tenuous. At a table I trust, I definitely would employ those types of rulings, but otherwise I can see some slippery slope things

It's not mandatory to post an answer. If you want to leave an answer in a comment (due to any reason), it is OK. It is however advisable to post an answer if you have time, because answers are more permanent, and can be upvoted/downvoted to indicate usefulness. — Infinite Recursion May 20 '15 at 13:39

@DavidCoffron The more things change, the more they stay the same.... XD

@Miniman The original concept author, Joe Fisher, thought it was a good icea. All Rangers gain a special advantage when fighting against monsters of the Giant Class (Kobolds - Giants). For each level they have gained they add +1 to their damage die against these creatures, so a 1st Level Ranger adds +1, a 2nd Level +2, and so on Strategic Review, 1975, though the "favored enemy" was a limited group from the moster list in the original game.
@DavidCoffron I don't see how that comment is in any way authoritative. It's a comment. :)
I think I just recursed again ...

@KorvinStarmast I believe that was the joke. =)

@Xirema Yes, indeed it was. I was trying to do the same kind of thing ... here, not there.

@KorvinStarmast I've gone crosseyed.

#FlotsamRPG is a GMless game about outcasts, renegades and misfits living in the belly of a space station, in the shadow of a more prosperous society. I'll be shipping the game to kickstarter backers very soon, and you can join them if you pre-order it! https://flotsam.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

@BESW @Trogdor I know we planned for GSS this weekend - we planned for 10 am your time, is there any chance we could slide it to 11 am your time? (I'd like to go to my community's post-convention reflection gathering thing that night if possible. If not, that's totally okay!)

I suspect Troggy will welcome the extra morning hour of not-people.

Awesome, I've just been missing a lot of events with my work schedule and concussion and such, so I'd like to go to this. (Especially because I missed out on the convention itself)

Oh yes, I remember how sad llama that made you.

!!!!!
The artificer returns with two new subclasses: the Archivist and the Battle Smith! We've also revised the spell list and added new infusions. (Any other revisions will come after the upcoming survey.) Download the PDF here: http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/unearthed-arcana/artificer-returns #DnD

Artificer UA part 2: http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/unearthed-arcana/artificer-returns
https://media.wizards.com/2019/dnd/downloads/UA-Artificer2-2019.pdf
It reprints the previous UA, with additions/changes:
" New subclasses—the Archivist and the Battle Smith
A revised spell list, including spells from Xanathar’s Guide to Everything
New infusions—Enhanced Wand, Repeating Shot, and Repulsion Shield
A revision to multiclassing—round up when determining spell slots"
A tl;dr of the changes:

@BESW that was the one I was expecting first

> Artisanal, hand-crafted combat. Because I am a battle smith, I have armor:1 and weapon:2 in physical conflicts I started.

> Iron Defender HP: equal to five times your level in this class + your intelligence modifier + the iron defender's Constitution modifier
Is that

(5 * level) + INT + id!CON
or
5 * (level + INT + id!CON)
?
I would think it would be 5 * (level + id!CON) + INT but neither possible interpretation of the text supports that.

I think it's the first one due to order of operations... no idea what the intent is though

8:16 PM
I was initially sad for the loss of Shield of Faith from their spell list, but I think the Repulsion Shield infusion sort of makes up for it.

@Ash perfectly acceptable

@BESW I was the saddest llama.

user15026
@trogdor yay thank you thank you thank you for understanding

@V2Blast gaaaaaaaaah. Bloat. I have just started a greyhawk world campaign with a fire genasi UA artificer from the version before this. I need to tell my player that we aren't going into this bloated version unless he and I have a balancing session on the side.

@JeremyECrawford One small querey the table for artificer has not changed but the wording of the infusion ability says only 2 are known where it used to be 3. When we gain the ability do we gain 2 or 3 infusions. I imagine 2 with the change but thought should get clarification to prevent argument
@akearney318 You choose 3. The PDF will be updated soon.

@BESW my Flotsam pdf version showed up. Looks interesting, not sure when I'll get to play test.

8:50 PM
@Ash XD no problem

Now Saturday is gonna be an EVEN BETTER day.

nice

@KorvinStarmast There's very little changed from the previous iteration. The major changes are the new subclasses—which if your player already knows what they were going to pick, changes nothing. The other major tweak is adding XGE spells to the spell list. The two new infusions seem like a big deal until you realize they're just adding +1/+2 bonuses for Wands/Ranged Weapons/Shields to compliment the +1/+2 melee weapons you were getting previously.
So if you had already hashed out the balancing issues with the previous version, you don't need to do much for this one.

9:28 PM
the repeating infusion seems nice
archivist seems a little overloaded
Battle-smith looks alright

@V2Blast Archivist feels like a way to introduce Psionics without having to go back to their broken AF Mystic class.

@BESW This is one of those things that should be obvious and it frustrates me that it isn't

Yeah
There are too many of those things too
Unfortunately
