I bet, they look amazing :D

@Jolenealaska :D

Hi
Check out my new avatar :)

10:29 AM
@lila Haha, genius XD
@lila Well, they are all stored as a "post history" type. It's certainly debatable whether a mod "votes" to (un)lock and (un)protect. It was just the best term that came to my mind to summarize all these actions.
@Jolenealaska You should make very sure to know their sexes, otherwise you might soon have a whole family. Or get at least one of them desexed.

@Elmy Yes - I'm aware. I've been handling them A LOT to prep them for a very up close and personal exam. Hopefully, I'll know for sure tomorrow.

10:53 AM
I've been torn between needing to know their sexes for sure (I'm certainly not taking the word of the pet store) and not wanting to stress them unnecessarily.

@Jolenealaska Awesome animals!
I really wanted guinea pigs when I was in undergrad but I was discouraged because they live a long life compared to hamsters

@C.Koca Thanks :) I am quite charmed with them. I'm also 54, so I'm settled down enough to commit to a couple of piggies :)

11:48 AM
People always think that guinea pigs are bigger hamsters. I am fascinated by evolutionary distance from different species and guinea pig-hamster distance is similar to the dog bear distance.
Fun fact if you don't know: Closest relative of giraffes are camels. Just check those beautiful eyelashes. Closest relative of whales are hippos. One would expect other marine mammals to make the cut, but they don't :)

12:15 PM
@C.Koca Wasn't the elephant pretty close to whales as well?

12:50 PM
@lila Gloria, but mostly I call her "Axie" :D

1:22 PM
@Elmy Not as much as hippos to the best of my knowledge. Common ancestor of elephants and whales should be an older species than that of whales and hippos

2:07 PM
hi

@lila hey

@C.Koca Woooooow thanks so much, it's the biggest honour ever for me!!! Nice!!!!

@lila You are too kind! It was the best drawing of Sonny so far :)

2:56 PM
@Elmy thanx!
@Elmy oh okay, I am still not fully convinced they are votes, "entered Hot Network Question" is also in these revisions but definitely is not a vote, more an event. But I think in the context of un(lock)-un(protect)-etc. this term "vote" is the most fitting so I am okay with how you phrased this.

Q: Is there anything that suggests that the concept of a "summer cat" is or has ever actually been a thing in Sweden or anywhere else?

Cat LoverThere is this vile, alleged concept called a "summer cat" ("sommarkatt" in Swedish). If true, it means that a family with kids buy/get a cat, bring it to the summer cabin, spend the summer with the cat and treat it well, but then they return home without the cat, just leaving it there to starve/d...

Is there a specific rep requirement to see edit history? It is really brutal :)

@C.Koca no you can always see it even without logging in

@lila I hope not many people does it :) I sometimes like to see what has been written in deleted answers and they are always very graphic

@C.Koca It is deeply disturbing, yes, but the person is clearly against this, and asks for evidence whether it is a real thing; and if a post gets deleted, then you need 2000 or more points to see the contents.

@lila Well, this is a forum culture. For example, whenever there is a rape news, Turkish forums are filled with comments fantasising how to torture the rapist, but whenever someone mentions a systemic change, people dwindle.
The more graphic you get about the rapists the more anti rapist you become. Ironically, most of the graphic torture of the rapist also involves rape
Back to SE, I am not really sad about the expressions. It is just a shallow way to express a position.

3:13 PM
@C.Koca Oh I totally understand what phenomenon you are talking about, it happens in Poland in web-newspaper comments too.
@C.Koca In Poland, far-right fanatics are generally extremely anti-gay but in many other contexts the same people are often fantasizing about the "ultimate justice" being delivered as male-on-male r∗pe in prison cell; this is so twisted and illogical, like they are not fully self-aware.

hi

hi

@lila how's it going?

@Nai45 Bad, someone just tricked me via subterfuge and wiped out my people... oh sorry you probably won't understand... :(
:D

@lila LOL I would have no idea how that feels... :D

Any opinions on song?...
My opinion: one of the best songs ever made, now your turn Litter Box ^.^

11:33 PM
@lila We have a joke in Turkish.
It is loosely translated as "Rammstein tried to sing pop music but German language did not allow it" :)

@C.Koca hahahaha I didn't hear anything like this before, really clever! :D

See? These guys are also from Germany but gave up the language to sing something smoother :P
Even these guys sing differently when they sing in English :)

@C.Koca Hey I know this song! I know it from some music video but the song was altered digitally in some way and sped up and the pitch was off, with animated music video. I kind of liked it, but it seemed to "modernized" for me. This is perfection! Do you know this festival is in Poland??? I will play this song tomorrow to my mom (she is sleeping now) and ask whether she knows/remembers it. In 1979 my mom was younger than I am now!!!
@C.Koca Oh I didn't even know they are German!

11:48 PM
@lila They are the pioneers of the reggea music if I spelled it correctly

@C.Koca I am probably going to raise civil war but I kind of do not like this song (I vaguely remember it from somewhere) :/ are they German too?

All their songs are like that. Very fun to listen to :)

@C.Koca Reggae I know what you mean, I did not know they are pioneers (and I did not know how to spell it either, but I clicked browser autocorrect).

@lila Yes they are. Apparently they are not famous in Germany as well as rest of the world. The former was actually euro-caribbean, but they got famous in Germany and had german producers.

Oh Rammstein tried and has English version of 3 songs, but they themselves said that a lot of things are lost in translation, and it totally does not sound the same. I used to dislike German in school because of the teacher, but many years later Rammstein did enough positive reinforcement than I consider German to be close to perfection, I am serious!

11:52 PM
@lila Do you also speak German?

@C.Koca I technically have been learning it for 3 years, and before that I had some voluntary facultative participation in some lessons about basics, but I was kind of really bad at it, and now I am somewhere between A1 and A2 levels; are you familiar with these?
@C.Koca Wow I also know this song! I am listening now in the background.

@lila Yes I am. And I am also there exactly in German. I completed the duolingo German course
That makes me A1-A2 I guess

Oh okay nice! I sometimes feel weird while telling this, because A1 technically is the most basic first-time novice; I could say that I am A1 in French, A1 in Spanish and A1 in Finnish and this is technically correct! :D And all I know is 'merci', 'buenos gracias', and 'salmiakk' :D
