@Nai54 heh, meta isn't that active :D

hi

mid?

IndexOutOfBoundsException

4:35 PM
lol
:D

Reminded me so much of Delphi, where you get the last element of an array with High(array) instead of using Length(array)-1 all the time and sometimes forgetting the -1

On other sites, it is possible to format chemical formulas and equations chemistry.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/86/… in a way so that they are displayed with indent, but if it rolls around they are still indented; on the other hand on Pets I did the formatting with non-breaking spaces to make indents, but if I make browser window smaller then it rolls around in ugly way, without indents. Is it possible to...
...use this formatting on Pets SE?
$\sqrt{A}$
doesn't work :/
And please tell me, is it possible to do some trick to make nice clean square root symbol with nice clean things formatted under it?
I mean, is it possible to do it on Pets SE
because copying the tricks from other sites does not work

This feature uses MathJax. I think it has to be activated somehow to work

okay thanks, am I right to assume that I cannot activate it myself, or is it possible? or is there some other trick to make similar effect on Pets SE?

Markdown and plain HTML are supported everywhere, but their power is limited. You can write H<sub>2</sub>O, for example, or &sqrt;

H2O works but &sqrt; does not work, which is weird because &nbsp; works

In theory we might have the option to activate more features on Pets, but I have no idea where and how it's done
oh, the code for square root seems to be &radic;

7:04 PM
oh okay &radic; works, thanks! but it is that basic and ugly symbol that lacks the "roof" and does not extend in length to clearly mark how many things are under it :(

@lila Yes, that's the limitation of plain HTML. You just write 1 Unicode character, not a complete formular
Oh, and the counterpart to H2O is E = mc2
For indentations, shouldn't it be enough to write a list? In Markdown, start the line with " - text", in HTML write <ul><li>line 1 </li> <li> line 2 </li> </ul>
Anyways, have to go now. I hope that helps you even a little bit (even though it's cumbersome)

7:26 PM
Oh, but both of these make bullet-point list and thus also add the big fat dot at the beginning, and it is good if you are doing a list, but my problem is that I only want indent and not the dot because what I am doing is not a list and therefore the dot looks ugly and out of place; I still appreciate your help and time, thanks and good night!
