Q: How long should I wait for my RES to lay eggs

TiriciaMy 15-year-old RES has started displaying behavior for the 1st time consistent to laying eggs. Her behavior change started 5-6 weeks ago. I only realized a few days ago what might be causing her behavior change. Reading on-line what to do, I added a bedding area to her box. She dug in it a f...

What is a RES? I doubt you mean a Renewable Energy System. Could you edit that please? — JAD 2 mins ago
My guess is either a something something snake, or a something something skink. Given the mention of heatlamps and burrowing and egglaying.

Q: Is it bad for the cat's health if I keep prodding my cat to play when she wants to rest or sleep?

SonevolAt times I am so deeply engaged in a play session, that even when the cat wants to stop and rest I keep prodding her for a while. Also sometimes when I feel too bored and my cat is sleeping, I wake her up for a play. She sheepishly plays on for a minute before dozing off again. I don't want my ...

it is a red eared slider en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red-eared_slider
@JAD my sister had one,long time ago :)

JAD

Still no gepard baby, @trondhansen!

Oh. Her
she's a bit obsessed with that feline

there's nowt wrong with being a bit obsessed with a well loved pet (well I hope not.. otherwise I'm trouble!) but I'd actually say her problem is more that she's self obsessed

I think this is plausible

JAD
:(

@JAD Why the frowny face? :)

11:39 AM
@motosubatsu its a bit like kids
sometimes you gotta give em space
(checks to see if the roomie is at the door ;p)
@motosubatsu I try to have a life outside my dog ;p
(even if I try to make sure he gets his walks when I can, only cause my dad's lazy)

@JourneymanGeek When I get a dog I think I'll struggle to have a life outside it :P
I'mmma spam you all with pictures
Start an instagram for it

@Henders Oh that's different ;p
but right now I have no clue where ash is. And that's fine
As long as he's not under my desk

JAD
@Henders oh, the topic at hand

Ah

(I mean he has two beds... and he sleeps under my dusty, cramped underdesk ._.)

JAD
11:44 AM
hehe, I could probably pinpoint my snakes to a meter accurate :P
(hopefully)

@JourneymanGeek Maybe it smells of your feet! You leave a lot of scent from your feet I think
Not you specifically but a general you :P

@Henders its also a little dangerous
I might kick him
and the cabling under my desk is... messy
I need to redo it at some point
(I have 2 power strips and a small network switch attached to the cross bar and legs)

JAD
hmm, a few days back I accidentally kicked out the power plug of my desktop :x

well that escalated quickly.. apparently not giving the OP the answer they wanted means I'm stupid

JAD
@motosubatsu yeah I saw. I don't think there's much to win there

11:47 AM
@JAD my desk is kinda |----| shaped
I have the power on the back end of the ----
@motosubatsu bleh.

yeah.. thanks to whoever cleared up the comments (@JourneymanGeek ?)

nope
I think it was @Henders
I don't have mod powers here ;p

@JourneymanGeek Yep

@JourneymanGeek ahh I saw the blue and assumed

@JourneymanGeek Easy to forget though :P

11:50 AM
thanks @Henders

@Henders If there's a request for mods or an election - I'll seriously consider if I'm eligible ;p

:p
I look forward to days that I get to handle a flag

ya, true of a lot of betas

here is a live feed of a gepard having babies in a zoo in norway https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUxu4dQkMKg
I've got this on in the background ^ Very cute

ditto
I love cheetahs

12:03 PM
I've seen her walking around the room a lot though. I guess there's somewhere outdoors she can go but not in her current state.

ya
they're like giant cat-dogs ._.
and the babies have mohawks

12:43 PM
the last time she had babies she had 2 boys and 2 girls,the last two minutes of this video shows when they got some exercise in the larger area(not the area where she is now)youtube.com/watch?v=pEC-SWOX5Pw and @YvetteColomb it is the tail of a horse and somezebra meat (sorry).
sorry for my spelling,but you do understand what i try to say :)

1:21 PM
@trondhansen Great video!

they have many videos not all of them are pleasant to watch many are honest when it comes to life and death,it realy hurts when new born babies dies but it is a part of life and they do not hide the truth about this,and it makes the joy greater when it goes like we want :)

What does the norwegian sign say on the stream, @trondhansen?

it say kimani is outside getting some air she will be back soon regards the care taker.

1:37 PM
lol
I was going to ask

Ahhh, thanks :D

the care takers do often use this time to clean the room,and when she is let inside it is feeding time and this is in a side room away from where the camera is :w

Do you see feeding?

no we do not see this,but sometimes she gets a snack in the room we can see(it is often a bone with some meat left on it)
often the cats get animals killed on the roads in the area where the zoo is,or they gets the legbones and parts of deer-moose-horses and meat from the other animals in the zoo that have to be put down for some reason.

2:04 PM
for the animals living outside it is possible to watch the feeding from the walkways in the park,like tigers-lions-lynxs and many of the other animals. dyreparken.no/english

2:18 PM
Neat

2:39 PM

here is a video,the care takers try to scare the tigers and spider monkies and surcate babies and orangutan babie.youtube.com/… there is no need to understand what the people are saying :)

Tyler and Felix. I had some friends over yesterday for lunch. The cats stole the limelight.

@RichieACC This cat only has three legs? :o

haha, no. He's hiding his front leg. Dunno how. Felix has all four limbs. Tyler is missing his left hind leg.

Poor fella!

2:47 PM
@RichieACC cats are good at doing this :) cats made it possible for us to grow grain so they have changed history,it is not likely they will ever forget this :)

@Henders He doesn't realise that he's disabled. He's the only one of my cats who hunts. And he does so alarmingly well.

@RichieACC Yeah there was one that lived next door to us. He just had twice the muscle on his back leg. He should still jump up a 6 ft fence!

Yep. Tyler does that.

Which one is which?

Black & White = Felix. Grey = Tyler

3:11 PM
Ah, thanks. I'll star that so I remember!

3:34 PM
HELP! my cat just ate lots of thermocol while I was busy studying. Should I worry?

If you're concerned about the health and well being of your pet, you need to take it to the vet.

@Sonevol you need to keep an eye on it for about 3 days to see if it will pass,if bhutu gets any problems eating or eliminating you need to take her to a vet.

Is there any poison for cats in thermocol

no it is not very toxic,so if it do not cause any blockage in your cats intestines the problem is over after it have passed thru the intestines of your cat.

@Sonevol it's not acutely toxic although it depends on whether there were any other chemicals on it (if any), however it can cause digestive tract blocks.

4:03 PM
Yeah, I would be assuming that the cat's main risk is from suffocation or some kind of internal blockage rather than the actual material.
Having said that, there's a lot of talk about styrofoam leeching chemicals into food and drink so perhaps there is cause for concern.

@Sonevol if you have some frozen white fish you can cook this slowly,whitout adding more than a table spoon or two with watoer,you will get a gelantine type of gravy out of the fish.let this cool and feed your cat the fish and gravy mix.it is easy for your cat to digest if your cat have an upset stomack(you will probably not need to do this but it can be helpful if she have problems)

> Polystyrene often makes its way into the environment, especially waterways. As it breaks down, the pieces are frequently consumed by both land and marine animals, causing blockage of their digestive system, choking, and death.

OMG, it's all Amazon, Ebay, packing material. She always trie to chew those
Today she had taken just 4 to 5 jabs. It's like chewing a stick. You will not eat it, still you will keep chewing it
I's not actually eating, but chewing to keepjaw muscles and teeth busy

the chewing is not the problem it is more the swallowing part that might cause problems :)

The leopard is rolling over :P It's so cute!

4:16 PM
@Sonevol If she "always tries to chew those," maybe you should start properly disposing of them.

@trondhansen yep.. and even if she is not intending to swallow any the nature of styrofoam tends to be such that small bits of it break off very, very easily and get swallowed, and then form blockages
@AllisonC Yep.. it's a relatively common thing - some cats like to go after these and prevention is always better than cure.

@motosubatsu most of the time nothing bad happens but one need to be aware of it if it does.

@motosubatsu Anything that might be harmful to my cats is kept where they can't access it. (Which includes locking them up until I can clean up after doing sanding/painting in the house.)

i realy hope to see some gepard (cheetah)babies soon :)

4:23 PM
@trondhansen Me too!!
It will probably happen while I'm asleep :P

@Henders it often do,or when the weather is miserable :)

That's when @YvetteColomb's horse came too!

@trondhansen absolutely!

4:38 PM
pregnant women is challenging no matter the species,i do have some experience in this regard :)

5:29 PM
Just saw your comment go past, @trond :P
