Q: Usage and definition of Multi-Pet-Families tag

BaarnThe tag multi-pet-families is currently applied to a broad set of questions, but I think some of them (especially different fish in aquariums) shouldn't be tagged with it. Regards concerns about households containing multiple pets of the same or different species and their interactions. Wh...

Q: How to handle a dissapearing hermit crab

Brian RushtonWhat should you do if you lose a hermit crab? I have a friend whose family put very large shells in for the crab to try,and it dissappeared. That was a long time ago, so it's obviously dead, but what should you do if you haven't seen them for a few days? Is shaking the shells inappropriate?

@CeilingCat so do we officially need ?

Q: What role does algae play in healthy pond life?

SkippyThe answer to this Surface area to volume led me to an interesting article. LOW OXYGEN AND POND AERATION William A. Wurts, Senior State Specialist for Aquaculture Kentucky State University Cooperative Extension Program PDF From which I quote: Oxygen Depletion Sudden death of phytoplank...

Q: Should "Recommend a fish for my tank" questions be titled for differentiation, and if so, how?

JoshDMRegarding "What other fish would be a good addition to my tank?". The parameters included in the question are very specific (the tank volume, current residents, environment, etc.), but I think the title of the question is too generic. I suspect that we will see identical questions many times but...

@JohnCavan - I don't want to know the details, but if you can/may tell me this one only: Did Skippy herself put the suspension onto herself?

Q: Can I release my pet rabbit in the wild?

James JenkinsI am aware the issues surrounding feral cats and I would never consider turning a dog loose to fend for it's self. But rabbits are not prey animals so would seem unlikely to have a negative impact on the ecosystem, also I see wild bunnies in the fields and woods around my house. I imagine that ...

Q: What does a horse need in terms of land?

Brian RushtonI grew up in a suburban area. Our next door neighbors had horses on a half-acre of land, and they seemed fairly happy. If I were to take care of horses, how much land would I need for them to have a healthy life? Does it depend on the type or number of horses?

Q: How do I teach my 10 year old dog to overcome his shyness and stop his new habit of pooping in his crate?

DragonsdoomI have three dogs that live in individual crates for roughly 5 hours every weekday. Two of them consistently prefer to poop inside, mostly on the pee mat. The third has always been the 'good boy' who doesn't go inside. Recently he has begun pooping inside his crate while I am away. I feel I giv...

I think the litter box has spilled over into Root Access -- we're talking about pets in there now too

Q: Do we want a chat bot in The Litter Box?

allquixoticSeveral popular rooms on the network are running a chat bot for some time now, including Root Access and JavaScript. There is a decent implementation of a chatbot, written in JavaScript, here. I run the chatbot for Root Access based on my light fork of Zirak's chatbot here (Selenium driver here)...

Q: Raw/Scabbed nose on cat

Dennis GravesI noticed that one of my cats has a raw section of his nose, on the leather section. It appeared after a night where the two cats I have got into hissing/low growling during 'play'. The cat is acting normal and doesn't seem to be in pain, but we cannot figure out what could have caused it sinc...

Q: What is the "Instinct" tag for?

JoshDMWe've got instinct, and I honestly have no idea what it's for or what the intent of the tag is. Two questions (one recently) were tagged with it. There is currently no tag wiki definition. Embellish it and keep it, or should I follow my own instinct and let it go the way of the dodo?

Like, as you mentioned. If you are concerned about the behaviour, you can be bad for their teeth and he stopped trying to pull my cat will hunt them down. He likes both the box/bag to play with them if they seem bored, but in general, if it is eating its own poop, there are always top priority, of course! The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also account for it as well - remain calm. The cat will pick the cat up by the back legs and turn it so its food to make the poop taste of the dirt for whatever reason, usually due to ingredients in the dog something better to chew on or laid on.
