Hello.
Sorry for editing your post. I just added the names of the sources because copyright rules demand this. :)

Likewise (in response to "hello"). No worries at all!

I hope you didn't mind it.
:D

@DecapitatedSoul Of course not. You've been here a lot longer than I have! Besides, I enjoy reading your comments.

(My comments??? :D )

Your comments on various questions. You have a sense of humor. This site is keeping me from going nuts during the bizarre period we're going through. Someone got mad at me the other day because my answer to a question was different from his, and I politely asked him to cite a source. One of the moderators calmed him down. I can't imagine getting upset because someone makes a constructive suggestion! :-)

This site is keeping me from going nuts during the bizarre period we're going through --->>> so true. I've been super active on ELU lately. There's nothing else to do :/
:P

That's a great guess, but actually, no, it wasn't. It was BJ.

Hmm
There's one member (you better know :p) who mostly downvotes... and I'm thoroughly annoyed by his downvotes.

Who's that?

Imagine.... you spend your time finding an answer... and when you finally do and submit your answer, it gets a downvote
I'm going to delete this name
Lol
Saw that?
He's the only nitpicker on ELU

Oh, yes, I've noticed what you're talking about. It happened to me when I first joined the site.

12:11 PM
Can't imagine an upvote from him
Almost impossible

Yes, I've also noticed that there are few nitpickers. That's why the thing the other day involving someone else really surprised me. I did not take the bait. Why bother when there are so many other things to get one's knickers in a twist about.

Yeah
I really don't care about reputation (I disapprove of secondary currency anyway), but the blot they leave on your post is annoying

Is there a way for me to delete the initials I cited above?

Not now
That's why I deleted the name as early as I could
Chat messages can't be deleted after one minute of posting :/

Thanks. Good to know. Well, no harm. I don't hold grudges, especially online! And the moderator was wonderful.

12:14 PM
:D
Moderators are nice, yeah.

I don't really care about reputation either, but there is one thing I do like: it gives you access to more things to do on the site. Although I think that after 3,000, there are diminishing returns.

When you reach 2k rep, you'll be able to edit posts immediately.

Yes, I saw that.

When you reach 3k, you'll be able to close-vote.
See the screenshot
I've just closed it
Need 5 close votes to close a question

Which question was that?

Q: Sentences Starting With 'It'

dreggESL students have trouble understanding the logic of sentences even starting with 'It is cold.' Or using 'it' as a pronoun to replace ideas in general. Usually they will start the sentence with 'That is interesting...' For instance 'It is interesting that you selected that factor.' Or 'It wasn't...

You'll not be able to see who closed it until you reach 3k

Always something new around the corner!

Yep
At 10k, you'll be able to delete closed posts
Have you ever reached reputation cap? (200 reputation in a single day)
You can gain only 200 rep a day. Beyond that, it gets wasted ....

Yes, close to the beginning, and not when I got the "free" 100 points. I had been spending a ridiculous amount of time doing this, because I remember thinking, "Yahoo! Something new to do that isn't completely devoid of content and intellectual gymnastics!"

Lol
I've reached it 10 times ... and 6 days consecutively
:p
I got 40 upvotes on three of my posts in a single day ^_^
I've also got a bounty (100 rep at once) on one of my posts
I spent hours on that post

A: Is there an etymological explanation for the silent ‘g’ in “paradigm”?

Decapitated SoulGeneral overview: Title: Is there an etymological explanation for the silent ‘g’ in “paradigm”? Word pairs like 'science-conscience', 'sense-nonsense', 'sign-signature', 'paradigm-paradigmatic' have sometimes different pronunciations from each other. They're 'English' words then why do we n...

My goodness! Good for you. You are an ELU inspiration.

12:24 PM
:)

Yes, I saw that paradigm post. It was a great question. I had always wondered about that "g".
Going off to finish an answer now before trying to start a "normal" day. Nice chatting. We'll resume, I'm sure.

What I liked about that post the most was the 'general overview' section
I'm going too
