[Themoonisacheese] i feel like i'm going slightly crazy
[Themoonisacheese] why doesn't Vyxal 3, 1 byte: `s` [Vyxal It Online!](https://vyxal.github.io/latest.html#H4sIAAAAAAAAAzXMMQqAMBBE0avI1EEQwSIX8BAhRdSNCtGVJNoY7-5a2D2Gz9zwHDeXoVuFhdxEERpQGHkiURJ65vzPPrg5QRursO7HmT8b9JHPo2qgDIpErgxlLAuFwLBW0otiWnmXi7bu6gbPC3eCrP93AAAA)
work?
[user] Uh
[user] Regex
[user] Perhaps we should mention that in the docs lol
[Themoonisacheese] bruh
[pacman] uhhhh
[pacman] can we get a flag to escape regex automatically perhaps
[pacman] also you can use the division symbol
[pacman] '|÷
@Bridget [user] I would rather not do that, since it changes behavior
[pacman] this one is non regex but says regex
[Themoonisacheese] oh yeah
[Themoonisacheese] i feel like it should be reversed
[user] Huh, it should. I feel like it makes more sense for s to be regex split and division symbol to be normal split
[pacman] it was reversed in old versions i think
[pacman] also is there a v3 element for "apply function b to elements in a at the indices in c"
[pacman] or like some boolean mask map function
@Bridget [Bridget ⚙] Your edit was ignored because the edit window expired, sorry!
[user] Your apology was ignored because my patience expired, fuck you
[pacman] 💀
23:15
[Themoonisacheese] i feel like i'm kinda asking for it but the error does say "please report to the devs" so there Vyxal It Online!
[Themoonisacheese] i'm actually struggling to reimplement regpack in 3.6
I don't know how this has happened, but the idea should be ÷ is regex, s is normal
[user] Oh
the theory being having both normal gives duplicate behaviour
so to make ÷ less useless, it should be a special case
Somehow, I managed to get them around the wrong way it seems
ysthakur created branch ysthakur-patch-1 in Vyxal/Vyxal
ysthakur pushed a commit to Vyxal/ysthakur-patch-1 in Vyxal/Vyxal: Let ListHelpers.join work on []
the only benefit of ÷ being normal would be if you wanted to vectorise normal splits
23:23
[user] Don't merge
which, in reality, is never
[user] I see
thus, regex split on ÷
which would be good if I actually implemented things the right way around lol
[Themoonisacheese] in 3.0, tail would get you the tail + leave the tailess array on the stack, is there a similar thing in 3.6?
[Themoonisacheese] because right now i only see :t$ᐐ$ doing the same
[Themoonisacheese] i guess dip would be 1 char less but still
there is a slight chance I forgot to add it
23:25
ysthakur pushed a commit to Vyxal/ysthakur-patch-1 in Vyxal/Vyxal: test j on [] with non-str separator
github-actions[bot] pushed a commit to Vyxal/ysthakur-patch-1 in Vyxal/Vyxal: Sort elements in test file from recent commit
ysthakur opened pull request #2150 (Let ListHelpers.join work on []) in Vyxal/Vyxal
ysthakur merged pull request #2150 (Let ListHelpers.join work on []) in Vyxal/Vyxal
ysthakur pushed a commit to Vyxal/version-3 in Vyxal/Vyxal: Let ListHelpers.join work on [] (#2150)
ysthakur deleted branch ysthakur-patch-1 in Vyxal/Vyxal
user, quick question, to the best of your knowledge, would an implicit conversion of String to VStr break everything?
or I could just use .vs
[user] I don't think so
i'll just use .vs for safety
[user] 👍
huh
23:32
[user] The only thing I can think of is back when we had VList be a subclass of Seq, VList <-> Seq[VAny] was dangerous
there's uh
no tests for ÷
[user] Unnecessary wrapping or something
[user] lmao
would explain why the behaviour wasn't caught lol
[user] If this were 2021 i'd be pushing dor code coverage but probably not worth now
@lyxal [Themoonisacheese] 💀
was probably deleted in yaml sorting stuff :p
@Bridget yeah given the whole winding stuff down thing :p
23:34
[Themoonisacheese] so uh remember when i implemented codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/276520/88192 but had to waste 4 bytes on an interpreter bug that only happened online?
@lyxal didn't mention it here, but I think I'll be winding things down in regards to Vyxal. Uni goes back tomorrow, and it'll be a busy year (final year stuff) meaning not much dev time available. Additionally, I think I'm ready to move on from golflang creation into praclang stuff
We had a good 5 year run, we came, we saw, and we (for some definition) conquered.
But I think it's time for the mantle of big golf to be passed onto or taken up by someone else :p
3.7.0 will most likely be the last release for a long time, barring crucial bug fixes
(like the ones today :p)
[Themoonisacheese] :(
[Themoonisacheese] that's understandable though
I've been considering it for a while too
like since about May last year
[user] Do you want to maybe announce it in TNB and ask if anyone wants to take over the org and stuff?
[user] An heir, if you will
That'd be you if you'd want it :p
23:40
[user] lol
would mean you'd need to give up your power over gambling and drinking though
[user] I've been kinda drowning for the past two years, I'd love to work on Vyxal (still haven't made a debugger) but I cam't right now
then I'd argue no heir needed
[user] Who says I can't be P and VP at the same time?
@lyxal [user] Understandable
enough people have code access that things could be self-managed if needed
23:42
[user] People can always fork and take it in new directions if they like
@Bridget and tbh I didn't announce resignation, just most likely permanent stagnation
[user] Right
interesting, no tests for × either
frickahh yaml cleaner
lyxal pushed a commit to Vyxal/version-3 in Vyxal/Vyxal: Swap behaviours of ÷ and s
[user] Amazing
23:45
@Bridget no don't edit it I was planning on adding it back
lyxal pushed a commit to Vyxal/version-3 in Vyxal/Vyxal: Update tests.yaml
github-actions[bot] pushed a commit to Vyxal/version-3 in Vyxal/Vyxal: Sort elements in test file from recent commit
you better not be deleting tests
just as well
@lyxal [Themoonisacheese] that was a formality, i'm updating it because i need it for code.golf
[Themoonisacheese] (maybe, as it stands the solution is stright up worse)
[Themoonisacheese] bahaha all of that for 2 bytes more
ruler'd :p
[Themoonisacheese] excuse the fuck out of you tinyurl.com what the fuck do you mean invalid url
23:59
lyxal pushed a commit to Vyxal/version-3 in Vyxal/Vyxal: Add [:-1],[-1] element
