@user does it need to? Because hypothetically, it should act the same way as v2, which seems to be fine

Ah ok then

hey thanks for introducing me to scala btw
I absolutely love it
makes a really great choice for v3

It really is a great language
Wish tooling and performance was better but oh well

took a little getting used to the implicits and typing stuff, but I think I've gotten the hang of it now

Nice

1:36 AM
speaking of scala: does github.com/Vyxal/Vyncode/pull/1 seem okay? (ignoring the corpus data - I'm interested in whether the scala is solid)

lgtm

Lyxal merged pull request #1 (Vyncode Version 2) in Vyxal/Vyncode
Lyxal deleted branch vyncode-version-2 in Vyxal/Vyncode

First PR for Vyncode!
Oh wait it's a bit late now but do you want to consider making the versions strings?
Actually that's not necessary
Won't need "1.5" at any point

yeah
it's mostly for backwards compatibility anyway
for permalinks

1:39 AM
@user intuitively it doesn't sound like it should be difficult

I actually didn't figure out how to make it work without a filler either
idk how the Elixir thing works

def columns_of(matrix) do
        Stream.unfold(matrix, fn
            [] -> nil
            matrix ->
                heads = matrix |> Stream.map(fn x -> x |> Stream.take(1) |> Enum.to_list |> List.first end) |> Stream.filter(fn x -> x != nil end)
                case heads |> Stream.take(1) |> Enum.to_list do
                    [] -> nil
                    _ -> {heads, matrix |> Stream.map(fn x -> x |> Stream.drop(1) end)}
                end
            end) |> Stream.map(fn x -> x end)
    end
This is the Elixir
What I don't get is the case heads |> Stream.take(1) |> Enum.to_list do [] -> nil part. I thought you'd want to check if all the rows are empty, but that case only checks if the first row is empty

isn't it mapping that over the rows? but my own elixir is too rusty to have any clue what Enum.to_list would be for :P

Yeah it's mapping over rows
Enum.to_list just converts a lazy enumerable into a strict list, that's not important
Oh wait
Oh
heads |> Stream.take(1) is only nil if there aren't any rows left
So that line is checking if there aren't any rows?
But that's already done by the [] -> nil line above
Unless the Stream.filter(fn x -> x != nil part filters out empty rows?

1:50 AM
i would assume that is exactly what it does :P
List.first of an empty list is probably nil

Ohhhhhhh

@user and if lists are strict that's probably why there's a take(1)

I completely discounted that part because I had no idea how a nil would be produced in the map before that and figured it was some Elixir thing
So that does mean 05AB1E also goes through every row
Which means it would also hang on an infinite list of rows of finite length?
Any osabie experts want to try doing transpose on such a list?

ooh yeah
i don't think there's a simple way to fix that though

Yeah
Oh well, something's better than nothing

1:55 AM
you'd have to, like, know the maximum length of any row beforehand
yeah lol

The 05AB1E does lend itself to an extremely golfy Scala version
LazyList.unfold(matrix) { matrix =>
  Option.when(matrix.exists(_.nonEmpty)) { (matrix.map(_.head), matrix.map(_.tail)) }
}

@lyxal are you sure you want me to do that? because I can do it

Hmm yes let it post the time every minute
You can if you want I guess

probably not the best idea

@lyxal I actually think I'm going to re-license sechat under the LGPL
is that acceptable with Vyxal Bot?

well it already overrides MIT so yeah I guess

got it

let me just do a little reading on it

it's just the GPL but you don't have to use the same license for works that include it as a dep

11:47 AM
LGPL means the bot can be under MIT
I like that

lemme also add the license to v2...

you uh never merged the license branch
intentional?

yus
have you updated the license?

gotta find the sechat repo first

11:51 AM
done

GingerIndustries merged pull request #64 (Create sechat licence + MIT Licence the bot) in Vyxal/VyxalBot2
GingerIndustries deleted branch add-licencing in Vyxal/VyxalBot2

thanks for your contribution

:+1:

now back to your regularly scheduled ignoring the edit PR

I'll be back to well actually I don't know what I was doing

11:53 AM
why am I ignoring it? because I have a suspicion that it's causing various subtle issues with the bot's internals and I don't want to expend the effort to fix them

besides you've got commit logs and a chat client to write

so I have developed the amazing strategy of... stalling forever so I never have to think about it
oh right I was gonna add commit logs

you were

how was that going to work?
log all commits to every repo, or just important ones?

all commits
you mentioned it requires less special casing

11:55 AM
well,
the bot already has a list of "important" repositories in its config

I'd prefer all repos anyway

got it, adding now

hyper-neutrino pushed a commit to VyxalBotSE/master: `random.choice` doesn't work on `set`s, so convert to `list` first
for an example of how it used to be

that really takes you back doesn't it

Jul 16, 2021 at 15:33, by Vyxal Bot
ysthakur pushed a commit to Vyxal/more-generators: Save generators
it does
2021 was wild
and was also the reason it was disabled :p

11:56 AM
back when the repo was called VyxalBotSE and I was busy doing who knows what

there were way too many commits in 2021
now they trickle in to the point they go unnoticed

hm, maybe I should add a feature for changing the config remotely
then again it's very important that the config be private, because it contains *counts* 4 secrets

heh?!?!
then why make me commit at all github?!?!/

bot email, bot password, webhook secret, and GH API private key
whar ?
also while I'm reconfiguring the bot do we have any other repos that we'd like !!/prod to work for?

there's literally only one repo with a production branch

11:59 AM
thought so
alsoalso I've added Vyncode as an "important" repo

!!/prod

vyxal-bot[bot] opened pull request #1757 (Update production (May 23 2023)) in Vyxal/Vyxal

Lyxal merged pull request #1757 (Update production (May 23 2023)) in Vyxal/Vyxal

12:04 PM
@lyxal one commit event can include up to 20 commits; I'm assuming you want me to report all of them?

include up to?
why wouldn't that be 20 individual events?

because commits are reported as a push event
and a push can have multiple commits

report them all then
highly unlikely someone is pushing 20 in one go

got it

ː
Why

12:12 PM
hey @lyxal pre-commit's requesting additional permissions, should I grant them

what for?
@lyxal why must the IPA characters I like the look of actually render as cringe outside of nice looking fonts?

it wants read-only access to merge queues

oh that's fine

got it, granting...
done

Could be an option
chances are very high it's not monowidth
and of course it isn't
worth a try
⥑ϩэЧ
Those don't look too bad
э+-+
⥑+R
I mean, they kinda work

12:24 PM
the ref being pushed to can be a tag; not sure how that'd work
when a tag is created aren't all its commits pushed at once?

good question

let's find out

@lyxal they also look like they might just render on mobile

uhhhhh
it looks like no commits are listed?
I'm just going to ignore tag pushes

12:27 PM
fair enough
I'm only interested in branch commits anyway

@lyxal I should clarify: are you interested in pushes or commits? VB1 collapsed pushes with multiple commits into one message

It did?

huh
never knew
shows how much it doesn't happen that a flood comes in
individual commits

got it

why the the hell was the JS VERSION listed as the SECONDARY link?!?!

it IS your fault
because you know what I just found in the user DB? message DB entries

12:35 PM
how can it be my fault if I didn't write that line?
oh wait really
lol

yup
:/
that may have something to do with the edit detection not working

self.replyDB = ReplyDB(storagePath)
that probably might explain it

yup
that would indeed be it

in my defense, I didn't know what the file structure was :p

sure is a good thing I noticed that now
ok, I have removed the bad entries from the database

some other file in STORAGE_PATH
you'd need to add a new constructor argument
