Steffan153 closed issue #1125 in Vyxal/Vyxal: Make parallel apply work with one element if it is at the end of the program/structure

@Steffan actually it has like 50

chunkybanana opened PR #1167 (Vyxal/Vyxal) (Vyxal:fix-mold-again → Vyxal:main): Fixed mold (I think?)

@VyxalBot Look at me, I'm a cool kid using nonlocal

4:10 AM
I'm kinda proud of coming up with that algorithm
And sorry @lyxal for replacing all your work

don't be sorry
I hadn't a clue what I was doing
it's best someone smarter made the fix :p

You were trying to patch something that simply didn't work well with Vyxal's lazylists and immutability

cgccuser commented on PR #1172 (Vyxal/Vyxal): "The implementation also needs to be fixed, because this test case doesn't pass"

@VyxalBot wut
Sorry that was mean
!!/u good bro?

@user I am doing moss production (JESSE, WE NEED TO COOK MORE MOSS!).

12:50 PM
poggers

@VyxalBot @lyxal Want me to approve that so the implementation can be fixed in another PR or do you want to fix it in that PR itself?

@user in the PR itself

👍

on second thought, different PR

12:51 PM
Oh alright

because I just saw that it uses divide
which as we've demonstrated, is broken

Somehow, chop doesn't seem to be working correctly

cgccuser approved on PR #1171 (Vyxal/Vyxal): "Tests pass, looks good"

My bad lol
I'll fix it later today

12:54 PM
seems to just be when there's not enough to split
I'll patch it now

Oh yeah, chop is designed to leave the leftovers as an extra element
Because that's how that other element I was fixing worked
So it shouldn't be used for divide

@user except that's how the test cases expect it to work

Oh okay
So "[[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8], 3] : [[1,2],[3,4],[5,6],[7,8]]" is an invalid test case ig
Would it be [[1,2,3],[4,5,6],[7,8]] instead?

what element?

Þ÷
But also / on strings
Both use chop

well right now the test cases suggest chop
e.g. ["abcde",3] : ["a","b","c","de"]

Which is why I implemented it like that
I'll make a PR to change those, gimme a few minutes

@user no, because that seems to be how it works too

How what works?

@user that's the behaviour of

1:03 PM
Okay let me choose a better test case
Would it be "[[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9], 2] : [[1,2,3,4,5],[6,7,8]]"?

no no I think what needs to be done is a name change of Þ÷
I'mma make a PR to change it to Divide List Into N Equal Length Parts

Or [[1,2,3,4],[5,6,7,8],[9]]?

^

@lyxal But what happens if you can't divide it into N equal length parts? Do you throw away the leftovers, let the last part be smaller, or add the leftovers at the end?
Ah okay

divide a into b equal length parts, possibly with an extra part

1:04 PM
That's it's current behavior ig so /shrug
Yeah that's why I implemented chop like that
I'm confused, do you want me to change the implementation of divide then?

@user no
leave it as it is

Lyxal opened PR #1174 (Vyxal/Vyxal) (Vyxal:change-name-of-Þ÷ → Vyxal:main): Change element name of `Þ÷` for clarity

and instead, merge PR 1174

Okay

1:07 PM
splits into n pieces, Þ÷ splits into pieces of n

that should clarify things

I thought it was the other way around

used to be probably

My head hurts :P

1:08 PM
yeah, /, and Þ÷ are a little confusing sometimes
not my best piece of work ngl
but it's the best I could think of at the time :p
anyhow given the behaviour of /, I don't think the test for is actually invalid

Lyxal closed PR #1172 (Vyxal/Vyxal) (Vyxal:fix-a-test-case-for-ḭ → Vyxal:main): Fix a test case for `ḭ`
cgccuser opened PR #1175 (Vyxal/Vyxal) (Vyxal:death-to-matrix-row-reduce → Vyxal:main): Death to Matrix Row Reduce (duplicate ÞR)

just got epicly pranked
thought the ÞR in the bot announcement meant that the pull request was a dupe

Lyxal approved on PR #1175 (Vyxal/Vyxal): "`vƒ` amiright?"

Just changed the name, hope that clears things up :P

definitely
10/10 change :+1: :p

Uh, we forgot to document O

looks there to me

I can't see it

@VyxalBot i read that as "improve the behaviour of seggan" :P

4:55 PM
It's so annoying how reverses its arguments

5:10 PM
@user i just found out kotlin native is more for supporting platforms that dont have jvm, its actually slower than kotlin jvm so well have to write the elements in c++
actually i was thinking of moving to c

Aww, okay
@Seggan How easy will it be to maintain it then?

i mean structs + unions should be easyish
cpp is just messy imo
i decided to go for java style iterators instead of cpp iterators just because its cleaner (also lazy lists dont exactly have end())
