So does the maximum 200 reputation/day not apply to private beta?

2:38 AM
@user1271772 No, it still does. The UTC day rolled over 2.5 hours ago, so new cap since then.

@gparyani But I saw someone with 300 points before the UTC day of yesterday ended
I guess they had 100 from association bonus and some accepted answers

@user1271772 The association bonus doesn't count toward the 200. Neither does the +15 from accepted answers.

@gparyani Beat you to it :)

Hello all!

Hello

9 hours later…
4:24 PM
@ifconfig You got most of this together? Well done! I'm curious, where'd you get everyone? Was there already a group waiting somewhere?

4:41 PM
@Tinkeringbell Uh, yea.
15
Q: What type of campaign message was used, to attract 17 new users within 1 hour?

Nike DattaniProposal: Drones and Model Aviation I noticed that 17 new users (all with only 51 total points, so all brand new users) followed this proposal within 1 hour: That is truly exceptional and as someone currently working very hard to try to attract enough activity in my own Area 51 proposal for ma...

Oh nice! :D
I missed that.

The drones community exists already on r/Multicopter and in other similar communities. I just advertised a little on reddit and with a Youtuber name Jushua Bardwell whose audience is, like, exactly built for this site.
:)
*Joshua Bardwell
In fact, once we go public beta, I'm going to ask him to put up another video on his channel announcing the existence of the site.

user435118
@ifconfig Very nice work, well done

user435118
@ifconfig Looking forward to that and can't wait for the public beta as well! :)

🙇‍♂️
Me too!

4:46 PM
Sounds like things may get busy!

4:59 PM
I hope so! That's the idea, right? :)

It is! :D
It would be awesome to see this go well, it's been a while since a site even reached private/public beta :)

IKR?!

user435118
What is the time period until a site goes from private to public beta?

I think it was dropped on the meta post about priveleges that this is the first site allowed through in 11 months

user435118
@Tinkeringbell Agreed

5:06 PM
Not sure, I think it's by feel of the SE folks

user435118
@ifconfig Yes it is, the last site to pass the commitment phase of Area 51 was OR which is now in beta for 320 days: area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/121892/operations-research

Oh, wow!
> I knew it was foolish to think that nothing would break in the 11-something months since the last site launch... and yet I dared hope.

Yeah, like I said, it's been a while :P
Apparently, the world ran out of blockchain technologies 11 months ago :P

user435118
Anyway, I'm off for now, bye @ifconfig and @Tinkeringbell May pop back on the site later to look at new quesitons

@Daniil Bye! Have a good $timezone :)

5:16 PM
👍

user435118
@Tinkeringbell :) (BST timezone)

Ah, almost the same as here then (Amsterdam timezone)

@Tinkeringbell Isn't that where Glorifndel is from?

@user1271772 His profile says Ermelo, that's not Amsterdam. And you're doing the name wrong.

@Tinkeringbell Apologies.
Ermelo has the same timezone does it not?

5:21 PM
Well, not all of the Netherlands has the same timezone. I don't know.

@Tinkeringbell I didn't know that!
"The Netherlands has 2 time zones. The country's European mainland, including the capital Amsterdam, observes Central European Time (CET) as standard time."
"The country's dependencies, island territories in the Caribbean Sea, all lie in the same time zone: Atlantic Standard Time (AST), which is 4 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)."
So Ermelo is probably the same time zone. Anyway it's not the important, but I'm often impressed by how many Dutch people we have on StackExchange per capita.

Huh. Fun fact! ^^^

Heh. I may not know much about drones but I do know about other things :D

5:36 PM
Hey guys, nice work on this @ifconfig
Glad to be part of the community.

Thanks, man!

6:18 PM
@Daniil From 8 years ago it was typically >= a week but can be extended (e.g. OR was in private for 20 days)

user435118
@TheSimpliFire Thanks for the info

6:34 PM
What's the opposite of a no-drone zone?
pro-drone zone sounds bad.

@TheSimpliFire Why was it in private beta for 20 days? Isn't that quite long?

What about just drone zone :P

@wizzwizz4 middle of nowhere?

@Tinkeringbell ☺ But in this case, it's not.
I'm a sucker for badges, so I'm writing up the "How can I take aerial photography without leaving my house?" question from earlier.

@user1271772 Idk, OR was the first site I committed through to beta; maybe we didn't get enough Qs per day

6:38 PM
Not sure whether to add a country tag.
@TheSimpliFire The q/d drops off sharply just after public beta begins.

@wizzwizz4 I didn't expect it to be :P

I'm not sure waiting for high qpd isn't just Goodharting.

@wizzwizz4 On OR it took a good while before the drop

@wizzwizz4 I think I've found 'fly safe geo zone' but it seems to refer to something internally in the drone itself determining if it's safe to fly? :)

@TheSimpliFire You know, I actually predicted that from the "they waited for questions per day" model.
I'm putting more and more stock in that.
@Tinkeringbell I think I'll just stick with the bad name and wait for an edit. ☺

6:44 PM
@wizzwizz4 'drone zone'? It sound too good, it'll become the new word for it and lead to some linguistic collusion ;)

"an area where drones are permitted", perhaps?

Hey you stole my idea© :P @Tinkeringbell

Not catchy, but avoids coining things, and all the dangers involved.

@TheSimpliFire I don't steal stuff. looks around innocently
@wizzwizz4 Then I'd make it full out 'where flying drones is permitted'. There's areas where drones are probably permitted as long as they're not flown ;)

@Tinkeringbell Oh really? Are those not Winter Bash glasses on your avatar‽

6:47 PM
@wizzwizz4 Nope, they came with the avatar ;)

@Tinkeringbell Hmm… Is not your username constructed of symbols from the Latin alphabet?
Did you steal them from the Romans?

Of course not. I have a v AND a u :P
Besides, I think people wanted legal advice off topic here but... Some cases are too old to prosecute ;)

I remain suspicious.

@Tinkeringbell Sometimes searching Google for image is a useful thing to do.

@TheSimpliFire Sometimes. yeah. I steal most of my profile pictures from Google, I admit ;)
But otherwise, I'm innocent!

6:53 PM
@Tinkeringbell That last word – I'm sure that was the name of a Pope last time I checked.
… Is there a single original word in English?

@Tinkeringbell So, suspicious no more wizz, self-incrimination to its finest :P

@wizzwizz4 If American English counts, I think covfefe is the word you're looking for.
@TheSimpliFire And that, people, is moderator life for you. Everything you say or do can and will be used against you ;)

@Tinkeringbell Nope

Really? O.o

@TheSimpliFire Could you explain? I might be getting different results; Google results change depending on who views them.

7:04 PM
@wizzwizz4 Basically I searched for usage of covfefe before 29 May 2017

@TheSimpliFire I could just see standard results for covfefe…

user435118
Happy 1-day private beta anniversary everyone :D

@Mithical where did you buy the DJI Spark as you mentioned in your question: https://drones.stackexchange.com/q/229/149 and about how much was it?

I can’t seem to find it on sale anywhere...

I haven't bought it yet, but I was looking at buying it from Zap.
₪3,600 there, so about $1,000USD.
So... when I find myself with some disposable income. ;)

11:06 PM
The mavic mini replaced the spark, is there a reason to get the spark over the Mavic Mini?

Older model, so cheaper
(looks at prices) or not

Yeah :( seems not.

The Spark's been on my list since before the Mini came out, and it hasn't been a realistic enough thing for me to consider recently so I hadn't done any more research on different models.
