@Randal'Thor i was reading your question on the telmarines and wanted to bounce some ideas off you, i suppose.
the telmarines made me think of perhaps the inquisition, or the catholic church just before martin luther, or something along those lines -
they almost act "christian" but in the wrong way - as if they "know better", or something like that.
but they still have superstitions meaning they half-believe in the old ways - like letting the forests grow up by the sea. (another analogy that comes to mind is the crusaders)
it's like they believe, but are lost in their superiority by believing.

@Randal'Thor Those SAT-related questions unintentionally lend support to the criticism against standardised testing. It's just a business that comes at the cost of proper education.

@Mithrandir24601 I assume that book is The Lion's World. I had no idea the Archbishop of Canterbury had written about that.

Q: What qualifies something as "Lovecraftian"?

sanpacoI often hear the term "Lovecraftian" used in reference to describe certain elements of horror literature or film. I do understand this to be a reference to H.P. Lovecraft and his style of horror, but where I'm a little unclear is on what degree of similarity to style would classify a work as "Lov...
