@DavidRoberts I am pretty sure that you're well aware of this but still I will point out that the question about frames, locales and pointless topology is more than 14 days old - so it won't be displayed in the community bulletin.
As a consequence, your answer will probably get less attention (and perhaps less feedback).
As a moderator, you could get the question into the community bulleting by adding the featured tag - although I am not sure whether the question is important enough to warrant this.
I mainly wanted to point this out in case people consider votes the gauge the preference of MO users on this issue, there is an additional factor why less people voted on your answer than on other answers.
Of course, after your answer the question was bumped to the top - which might added a few views. At the moment, the question has 410 views
Naturally, in the end this will be (most likely) done by one of the moderators - from this viewpoint, the feedback from other users carries a bit less weight.
