@MartinSleziak Only now I noticed that this tag was actually added to the question back in March 2012 - and it was recently recreated after it was undeleted by a mod.
> Edit (Stefan Kohl, 2021-05-01): I undeleted this highly upvoted question which was deleted single-handedly by an (at that time) SE employee in 2014, since I didn't see a reason why it should be deleted. If there is a reason why it should be deleted, feel free to delete again.

Q: Why are there two separate tags (open-problem) and (open-problems)?

Martin SleziakI assume that most likely this was just an oversight - but since it was a result of a moderator's action, it is probably better to ask than just remove the tag singlehandedly.1 Question: At the moment there are two separate tags open-problem and open-problems. I have added also a feed for on meta. As I said, I am not really sure whether such tag is really needed.
The tag was created in October 2020.

@MartinSleziak Yep I'll probably add this tag to a few other meta questions (but not while this specific question is active) Thanks for pointing the typo, now fixed (in general feel free to edit!)

I would assume that when that question was recently undeleted, the fact that it had an outdated tag was simply not noticed, and that the tags should be merged. Perhaps @@StefanKohl can confirm? — Tim Campion ♦ 2 hours ago
@TimCampion Yes, indeed reviving the tag was completely unintentional. I removed it from the question, as I didn't see that the question is about a known open problem / known open problems. — Stefan Kohl ♦ 13 mins ago
> After all, if this question is not needed, it can be simply deleted. But I did not want simply revert an action taken by a moderator. (One additional advantage of having this question around is that it documents that a tag can be (re)created by undeleting a question which used to have that tag before it was revmoved/renamed.)
@TimCampion If the mods decide that the question is no longer needed and should be removed from meta, I have no problem with that.
As I mentioned, one thing which is (marginally) useful about this question is that it documents that a thing like this can happen.
It also links to an older (probably forgotten) thread about tags.
But neither of those is that important.
