I have noticed some posts which have images with http are than https.
I think I recall some posts saying that now only https images are displayed in posts. (Or maybe I remember it wrong?)
Here are some specific examples:
This answer: Interesting mathematical documentaries. It contains a link to i.stack.imgur.com/ql8tA.jpg and the image is displayed correctly.
This answer: Interesting mathematical documentaries. It contains a link to i.stack.imgur.com/M3Lu7.jpg and the image is displayed correctly.
I thought I have seen also example with http where the picture wasn't hosted on stack.imgur.com. But I can't find it right now.
@Glorfindel Sorry for bothering you, but I guess this is something you might know about.
Did I remember correctly that Stack Exchange posted an information that images with http rather than https are no longer supposed to work? Or did I misremember it?
In case as above - where there is a picture with http rather than https - is there something that has to be done with such posts.
I thought I have seen also some edits by yourself changing http to https, but my memory might be fooling me.
I tried to search like this: data.stackexchange.com/mathoverflow/query/1334353/… Maybe when I have a bit of time, I should try to change the query so that I also check some string which was removed.
It seems that I am responsible for most of the recent edits where http: was removed from the post. (I'd guess that typically that would be to be replaced by https.) SEDE
I see that also in some edit of your the sting http: disappeared in that revision. Here is a SEDE query.

@MartinSleziak yes, but images hosted on imgur.com are always rewritten to HTTPS, even if they're HTTP in the source code.
My script always skipped those instances.
same for gravatar.com

For some reason, in the instances I linked about there is still http: mathoverflow.net/revisions/176196/2

It's HTTP in the source code, but the page (mathoverflow.net/questions/100033/…) the link is HTTPS.
SEDE says it's HTTPS in the rendered body. Apparently the Markdown parser is doing some magic here.

Ok, so if I ask SEDE to show where http: or http://i.stack.imgur.com is used in the body, the sede does not actually check the MarkDown source as displayed after clickingon edit, but the rendered version?

yes
if you want Markdown, you'll need the PostHistory table

I did not know that. (Or maybe it was mentioned to me, but I have forgotten.)
So when I see http://i.stack in the editor, I don't have to worry about that, I guess.

Those will continue to work. But my script has fixed almost all HTTP images networkwide.

Thanks a lot for your response. This is good to know.
I have edited a few http links to https on that thread (such as Wikipedia or arXiv). It is a minor change, but since the question was bumped by somebody else anyway, I thought it was worth doing. (Or at least better than somebody bumping the same post for such edit in a year.)
I wasn't sure whether I should do something with the pictures, too.

oh, that's true - my script only searched for broken images, and while it was repairing those, it also tried to HTTPS non-HTTP links

I guess there are quite a few posts with http links to Wikipedia.
It is also useful to know about difference about Body in the Posts table and Text in the PostHistory table. (Probably it is not often important to distinguish between HTML and MarkDown, but in some cases it might matter.)
I should keep that in mind.
In any case, thanks again for your response about the pictures. It is good to know that if the pictures are working, it isn't necessary to change them to https.

good luck!
