The question Alternate descriptions of finite fields has the deprecated (abstract-algebra) tag and it also has no top-level tag. As I am not really sure which top-level tag would be suitable for questions concerning finite fields, I should probably leave reatagging to some other user.

Q: Alternate descriptions of finite fields

PyRulezThe finite field of order $p^n$ is isomorphic to $(\mathbb Z/p \mathbb Z)[X]/(P)$, where $P$ is an irreducible polynomial in $(\mathbb Z/p \mathbb Z)[X]$ of degree $n$. This describes every finite field up to isomorphism. My question is, what are alternate ways of describing these finite fields?...

This recent question also has a deprecated tag: Combinatorial property of cross polytopes. But I'm not really sure what to replace (geometry) with. Perhaps ? Maybe also and (or at least the first one) could be added?

Q: Combinatorial property of cross polytopes

ecgI apologize in advance; I know that this site is for research-level mathematics, not for elementary learning ground. But I tried to understand the following question on my own but it is still unsatisfactory. I asked a question to a professor: Let P be a $d$-dimensional convex polytope with $f...

Maybe I will remind the tag again. Todd Trimble (one of the moderators) explicitly said that the tag should be removed: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/10243/2018/4/26 - but it still seems to be there.

A: Help cleanup tags!

Dan PetersenI suggest deleting the tag decomposition-theorem. I would guess that the tag was intended to be about the decomposition theorem of Beilinson-Bernstein-Deligne-Gabber. It seems unnecessary to have a whole tag just dedicated to this theorem (perverse-sheaves should suffice). What's worse, most po...
