Since this question has been bumped, I suggested to remove deprecated geometry tag. Still, the question does not have a top-level tag. Any reasonable suggestions?

Say I take a cord, tie a loose knot in three-dimensional space, and pull tightly on the ends to generate an approximation of an ideal knot. If the cord has a fixed knot topology and a random initial configuration in space, are there any conditions under which I am guaranteed to generate a partic...
I have tried to go with gt.geometric-topology - the tag-info explicitly mentions knot theory. Perhaps somebody who knows more about this topic can confirm whether this was a reasonable choice.

I have seen several times people editing a post to add a link to an article under restricted access/behind a paywall. By this I mean that the article is on some site requiring a login/payment before access/downloading. In that situation, I am likely to reject the edit. Am I right in doing so? A...
springerlink.com.proxy.lib.ohio-state.edu/content/… link.springer.com.libproxy.wustl.edu/article/… etc. They obviously work only for the user who posted the link.
I believe that at least some posts containing such links can be found by searching for url:*proxy*. You can choose to view active tab if you only want edit posts which are not too old or were bumped for some other reason.
Probably some other similar search queries might also find some of such posts. Perhaps url:*login* (active tab) is also reasonable. (Although it seems that there are some false positives.)
