In the proof of Lemma 1.3 in the paper "The ideal structure of a groupoid C* algebra", Journal of Operator Theory 1991 by Jean Renault, I found the notion of a generalized limit of a net without any explanation or definition. A google search brought no results, so what is a generalized limit? To...

If I had to choose, my guess would be fa.functional-analysis and gn.general-topology.

I am also not sure what the etiquette on MO is about editing questions which I have answered.

(I will wait a bit to see whether I will get some feedback here. If not, I will probably made a suggested edit.)

When similar issue was discussed on meta.math.SE, the consensus seemed to be that this is not a problem: On retagging questions I have answered. (Of course, MO community might have different rules.)

Ok, I went ahead and made the edit suggestion.

I just asked because since I have already asked in chat (and got a reply from Yemon), then maybe it was not necessary to bother two other users to review the suggested edit.

On the other hand, maybe some of the reviewers will be glad to get closer to the stewart badge.
