The value you bring to a company is quite subjective. Imagine you are a trained engineer with PhD etc. but your line manager does not like you and puts you an cleaning duty...

Also, lets say you bring a value of $200.000 (as if that where measurable) to the company and demand $100.000. Also let´s say your boss thinks he can get the work done for $30.000. Do you think you get the money or do you think your boss will get a new car?
