VtC RfC TLA? I at least know RAI since that's WotC official terminology :P
@nitsua60 Thanks for the info nitsua. I know there is a tendency here to assume that anyone who disagrees with anything is a troll, especially considering this community has some sort of history with problems with D&D and RAW (and most of my answers are about RAW). So thanks for taking the time to answer my questions instead of just dismissing me as being a bad actor or telling me that there's no point explaining anything because I should just stick around until I "get it".
I appreciate it!

@jgn Okay, I said I wasn't going to bite, but you got me with this one: "I know there is a tendency here to assume that anyone who disagrees with anything is a troll." You may think that, but from everything I've seen that's a false statement, even if we dial it back from its obvious hyperbole, and it's the sort of thing that annoys people. You've just painted everyone here as incapable of hearing disagreement without ad hominem dismissing the speaker.
Or, at least, of having that tendency. It's just not true, and it's offensive.

You are right. It is definitely not everyone and it is definitely not all the time. It was hyperbole. Sorry that I offended, you. I will try not to let my frustration come through like that again.

What I meant to say is something along the lines of "some people have a tendency to behave in a way that suggests that they assume that someone who disagrees with them is doing so only to be argumentative or for some other non-genuine reason".

Again, I did not mean to offend you or anyone else. I just wanted to describe my experiences when people have shut down all meaningful dialogue to enter "
I actually wanted to ask you a question about how asking a mod for help works. I went back and reread my recent conversations in the bar and main chat for a 4th time, and honestly it left me a little taken aback. I expected to find someone saying something like "that's a strawman, you aren't allowed to say that" or anything like that. Instead, I saw no one calling anything I said a strawman, and I didn't see any instances of it.

This is confusing to me. No one accused me of using a strawman at the time (and like I said, I didn't see myself making the fallacy, and I certainly didn't mean to

@jgn Asking a mod for help is easy: just ask. We're all pretty-constantly available in chat, or you can raise a flag on a post.
