I've heard the "freedom fries" thing described in many ways, but "anti-French hate-speech" is a first. I really have to second @only_pro and say lighten up. It's never been that serious of a thing.

Wow, I've never seen so many people so anxious to get offended before.

In the context of the time, general usage of Freedom Fries in conversation was to satirize and mock how easy it was for hawkish conservative feelings got hurt. Steven Colbert frequently used the term in his satirical show, The Colbert Report.

@LangLangC It's more like "freedom" was included a key term for the fries emoji because it's funny. You know, as a joke. And besides, no one ever took the "freedom fries" thing seriously enough to consider it "hate speech"—it was always viewed as a ridiculous joke. Lighten up, man.

@user405 In the event that he does in fact read your email, I also sent Tim an email praising the use of "Freedom Fries" to name the emoji. It's socially imperative that we accept unbounded diversity when labeling emojis.

Lol. We don't have to wait and see for anything. He's going to ignore your email, because it's ludicrous ;D

@hobbs You're right, I shouldn't assume Tim Cook's opinion. Instead, I've just sent him an email suggesting he consider removing this. We'll have to wait and see.
