Generally anything a diamond says is said with a booming voice and a "kick me" sign taped to their back.

I am uncomfortable with the tone of some of the comments here. The community should absolutely ask candidates to clarify anything that bears on a candidate's suitability and, yes, some candidates are going to be controversial, but (a) diligent pursuit of clarity needn't be combative and (b) the election chat room is probably a better place for extended discussion. – Monica Cellio♦

I'm here to discuss moderation, but I'm not interested in giving my hot take on the interactions in TWC.

You write decent posts, sure, but your activity doesn't show you're moderating with the current tools available. How will promoting you to a diamond help?

@MisterPositive Except, if I recall correctly, they randonally order the candidates during the voting phase, they aren't put in any specific order to prevent that kind of Bias

I'm not going to engage in that.

The main job of a moderator is to de-escalate situations and keep things clean; inability to resolve one's own wrongdoing is incompatible with that job.

Hello @RichardU, I see you have been subject to some negative attention around this election. I can't imagine that will stop if you are elected as a moderator, so I am curious, do you feel these accusations of past mistakes will impact how effective you can be as a moderator? Do you have a plan for how to deal with them?

In other words a moderator needs to already be modelling the behaviour they will carry in to moderation, because they will carry their current behaviour predominantly into moderation. If there's changes, there needs to be a demonstration the changes have already long since started and are on a good trajectory to get resolved soon.

Folks, this room is for discussion about the moderator election, not for discussion on discrimination, SO blog and other topics. While that topic is certainly an interesting one to discuss, we should probably take it elsewhere. What do you think?

@RichardU No, it's a self nomination only process. A requirement of being a moderator is, well, wanting the job. You'll see your support from the populace generally pretty quickly after you post your own nomination.

Can we nominate anyone other than ourselves?
