Discussion on answer by Dan Clarke: What can I as a teenager do about my insanely strict parents?

I'm about as free-range parenting as it gets, but one of the few things I ever put my foot down about was no jobs during the school year. Kids with jobs have been shown to have lower grades, and my kids at least didn't have the marks to spare. For High Schoolers, school IS their job.
