@Harel13 in general if you see a pattern of people misunderstanding and/or misapplying a close reason, it would be best to propose either a different wording that will lead to less misapplication or a different policy which matches what people are currently expecting. Mi Yodeya Meta is a good place to discuss either option.

Q: Ads test beginning week of January 13th, 2025

PhilippeWeโ€™ve been exploring the concept of using open auction to manage advertising on some Stack Exchange sites. Under this model, advertisers (who have been organized into categories based on their products) โ€œbidโ€ for an advertising spot. There is a floor price - a minimum price for the spot, and all ...

@Kazibácsi I don't use Artscroll chumashim and anyway am not knowledgeable enough on te'amim to identify mistakes. But the work looks impressive, so I upvoted the whole thread as you were publishing. Yishar koach!

@msh210 Something else to think about is that if I'm not mistaken, the last Reuvenite attempt to gain power/assume leadership of Yisrael is Datan, Aviram and On's joining Korach's team. Again we see here ambition (which in of itself may not be bad, in the end leaders are necessary, and new leaders are needed if the old ones are perceived to be bad at their job), a plan of sorts, but another failure.

Her philosophy was essentially that selfishness is a virtue. There are many jurisdictions, organizations, and powerful individuals in the contemporary world who embody the same, to varying degrees. This is Midat Sedom.
Seven Jews were massacred in a shul in Pittsburgh by someone who was violently opposed to immigration.

@RabbiKaii With no intention of butting in I would just say that I think the answer is worth preserving, that there's nothing wrong with calling the Malbim or any ืชืœืžื™ื“ ื•ืชื™ืง Torah, and that it would be unfortunate if you intend to stop writing valuable answers in your typical style like this one

I've been troubled as of late by questions about non-Rabbinic or non-Orthodox movements consistently being downvoted to oblivion, as well as receiving many close votes, particularly "Comparative Religion" votes, which makes me a bit mad.

Just so everyone knows I'm working on publishing a translation of a parsha sefer called Beer Yosef. It's my favorite sefer on the parsha. I just signed with Mosaica Press. Right now I'm trying to collect sponsorships/dedications towards covering the publishing costs. If you guys know anyone who might be interested in helping spread Torah please forward them this message. More details here: parshaponders.com/beer-yosef

This morning during Shabbat services a vile rasha went on a shooting rampage at one of the two synagogues I attend regularly. I was at the other one at the time. I'm physically fine, but it is very likely that I have friends among the eleven dead. (They won't release any names until tomorrow and I haven't heard through the grapevine.)

Q: In sadness, it is time for me to go

Monica CellioChaveirim, I write this post with tears literally in my eyes. @Yodeyans Moderating disagreements is a perilous enterprise, since it's not always possible to keep everyone fully satisfied with the decisions which must be made. Despite this, know we always try to keep everyone's best interests in our hearts and minds. If you have felt slighted or hurt by a decision we made over the past year, we apologize from the bottom of our hearts and hope despite that you can continue to enjoy your experience here in the future.

Hi guys. I hope the presence of a persistent lurker hasn't been terribly annoying. I'll leave you in peace now. As you know or might have guessed, I've been here just to be an extra set of eyes watching out for nastiness from those who would exploit tragedy to give words of hate extra bite. My heart goes out to you, Monica, and to everyone touched by this gut-wrenching atrocity.

Q: Sites can now request to enable a banner to warn about their policy on AI-generated content

JNattl;dr Weโ€™ve recently run an experiment to test a banner highlighting the โ€œAI-generated contentโ€ policy on Stack Overflow. Next week weโ€™ll be graduating the experiment that ran on Stack Overflow, and adding functionality to allow the "AI-generated content" policy banner to be enabled on Stack Over...

@Alex You mean the cheftza is a Brisker yehiva, but when we want to look at any individual gavra teaching there, there's room to be mechaleik between those who are Briskers and those who aren't?
