its a real pity that ".se" is taken by Sweden. No that top-level domains are for sale, that would be awesome to have. Expensive though.

I think that the site looks very strong—sure, the visits per day could be higher, but the quantity of questions is good and the question quality is top notch.

It's being discussed—it's not going to be immediate, and I've already said that it shouldn't happen until after the high holy days.

@msh210 I'm just not a fan of tag proliferation, and so I'm not sure I'd be super supportive of the dina-dmalchuta-dina tag, either.

We've had a few questions about _en isur chal al isur_. I think it's worth a tag. I'm not sure whether it should be a specific `isur-chal-al-isur` tag or a more general `chalos-isur` tag, or how either one of those should actually be named. What do y'all think (about whether we should have one at all, and which)?

And are there any existing questions that might fit into a more general tag than `isur-chal-al-isur`?

@IsaacMoses My pleasure. I am really impressed what's being done here. We might not realize it now, but it's BIG

@IsaacMoses There does not need to be the word "Jewish" in every title. Those two particular questions are ambiguous if you are only seeing the title. Titles are important. If I saw a Tweet that said "Why don't we bow 'correctly' any more", it makes no sense. It's much clearer to say "Why don't Jews bow correctly anymore" or whatever makes the title clearer.

@IsaacMoses Hello. My flags were to indicate that a question title could be improved if they were more specific (not use the word "we"). Instead of saying "why do we...", it should say "Why do Chasidic Jews..." or whatever is appropriate for those questions.

Editing is the backbone of Stack Exchange. Every question and answer pair is intended to be an evergreen, editable resource for future travelers:

The editing feature is there so that old question/answer pairs can get better and better. For every person who asks a question and gets an answer on Stack Exchange, hundreds or thousands of people will come read that conversation later. Even if the original asker got a decent answer and moved on, the question lives on and may continue to be useful for decades. …

... here's the cool part: For any future badguys who show up, we don't have to jump through the suspension hoops. Just merge the new user in with our new friend s_m.

@IsaacMoses I don't object to gradual closing. (Nor to sudden closing. Closing doesn't bump things to the top of the list, I don't think.) I don't see that they should be deleted, but TBH I don't know what the criteria are for deletion vs. for closing. I don't think they should be detagged if not deleted: it's a handy way to consider them collectively. I agree the wiki should say "don't do this".

My conclusion:
- It's highly unlikely that the primary URL of this site will be http://mi.yodeya.com any time in the forseeable future.
- Similarly, the HTML title (what appears on the title bar of your browser) is unlikely to change.
- There's no reason that http://mi.yodeya.com can't continue redirecting to here indefinitely.
- When we launch out of beta and get a permanent site design, it's possible that we can get a name (e.g. mi.yodeya) incorporated into the banner at the top of the site, as SeasonedAdvice and CrossValidated did. If we do that, then there's no reason we can't go back t

Mods: If this happens again, instead of destroying the user, delete the offending material and suspend the user until biyat go-el tzedek. Then, it's more difficult for the same person to come back.

Well, my hope is that the SE devs (for whom I have HUGE respect) will be able to take a list containing pairs of words & phrases and their meanings, and auto-create those pop ups on the fly. That way, nothing needs to be done to older questions, and the community won't have to change how they ask new questions.

One of the things I want to push the SE developers into doing is coming up with automatic glossary feature . I can read Hebrew, and I know more about the topic than the average SE user—but much of it is still over my head.

@RebeccaChernoff I just think "minyan" every time I see "quorum" in a Jewish context. 8^)
