Note that quality of answers/rep isn't a necessary quality being enthusiastic about English does help though. On top of review activity, I'd say the most relevant though is level headedness.

Before this room gets deleted, I'd just like to again thank all who have supported me in this election with your kind words. It was way more encouraging to me to have had that and not be named a mod (particularly with the slate of candidates we had) than for it to have been the other way around. Thank you!

Sorry to butt in. Yes, that's absolutely fine. Are you sure you don't want to have any influence beyond that preference? (Note, you are indicating preference, not casting votes: you only have one vote and three preference options for how that vote is used). See the Meta.SE post and particularly Wrzlprmft's answer.
