This room has taken political discussion too far, and it's turned into mudslinging. That's not okay, and it stops, or this room does.

(Rand al'Thor) Just because you're all nice to each other (the people in the room) doesn't mean the Be Nice policy is being followed.

Everyone's a puppet, you just need to know how to pull their strings.

I hate to have to say this, but StackExchange has higher standards for discourse than the current US presidential election. You can generally still discuss what has been said, but it's not a good idea to repeat everything and make it your own, or to adopt the same general tone yourself.

I think that certain people are so used to everyone falling all over them all of the time about how brilliant they are, it's difficult for them to see that they're wrong sometimes.

@DrRDizzle GET OUT---------------->

Oct 3, 2016 18:06
@DrRDizzle I had to come in here just to refute this. If everybody votes for mainstream candidates because they don't think minor ones have a chance, nothing will ever change. And sometimes what people think is just a protest vote CAN end up winning, as you and I and the population of this country know only too well. I don't know how the US voting system works, but given the unpopularity of both Clinton and Trump, this election could be the best chance ever for a third candidate to win.

What is there left to discuss? Moderators + CMs + regular users have made it clear that you can't insult politicians, both in here and on Meta.SE. None of the answers on my MSE question have any downvotes at this time, and all of them say that such insults violate the Be Nice policy. Just stop insulting people and you'll be fine.

This room was placed in timeout for 1 hour; the topic of this room is "Discuss current events " - conversation should be limited to that topic.

@Himarm Yes, salaries of people who do the charitable work. You wouldn't fault Doctors Without Borders to pay salaries to the doctors they employ, would you?

@Himarm Anyone who believes a word out of Hillary's mouth is gullible beyond belief. 30 years of the same old song, and they believe she changed her ways in the last 3?

Heck in the US people guilty of treason get to run for President.

@Skooba And that's fine and good, but, if someone disagrees with you, they shouldn't be made to feel like a criminal and to be spoken to that way. I felt really bad for that guy that posted that. He had no ill will and he was trying to speak his piece on it. He was just shut down. I was really disappointed with the way that he was treated.

@DrRDizzle See, this is precisely why this election is BS. Trump says stupid crap all the time, but the media reports snippets out of context and soon you have people everywhere repeating without knowledge.

Why is this called the news room?
2
Oct 20, 2016 13:23
@Skooba That is 100% false. Registered charities almost all have employees as well as volunteers. They are still charities.

@Skooba It's a city in Syria. That's important to know because the paid troll was paid to troll about it, despite the guys who paid them to troll being the same people who destabilized the region.

I appreciate you're annoyed, but I've seen both sides of this story and neither of them is going to win. Arguing ain't going to achieve anything.

@Terriblefan To think that might be a dig at you is, frankly, ridiculous. He and DVK are quite right - the blog should have a clear and recognisable name, not some memetic in-joke name that new users won't get.

@steelerfan To be clear, I don't understand why he feels the need to interject in our stack, against my ideas, when he doesn't even feel the need to be a part of our stack.

Okay. I will stop complaining. I feel bad when I feel like I am talking behind someone's back. Some people I just leave when they're around, but, I still don't want to talk about them behind their back. Sometimes I need t remember that.

Another not-entirely-one-sided-hitpiece article from Cracked. Guess their turn to biased political articles didn't work out for their readership numbers.

Widespread organized child sexual abuse took place in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England, between 1997 and 2013. Local investigations into the abuse began in 1999, although some reports were never finalised or made public by the authorities. In 2010, five men of Pakistani heritage were found guilty of a series of sexual offences against girls as young as twelve. A subsequent investigation by The Times reported that the child sex exploitation was much more widespread, and the Home Affairs Select Committee criticised the South Yorkshire Police force and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for...

The basic idea of "don't let in people with a much higher chance of being terrorists" is solid logic. Everything else is politics.

@Terriblefan I don't even know who the Skeptics mods are. But if you call people dicks and get flagged for it, I'd be inclined to say that's your fault and not the flagger's fault.

The founders won't be considered founders anymore after too long. People just need to stop being pu**ies and stand up for what they believe in and stop letting themselves be bullied by this crap.
