wow, just read thomasrutter's answer in the one you started with... makes me wish there was a way to encourage the asker to reconsider which answer they accepted

The idea here: we've got some older questions and answers that really deserve more attention and perhaps a higher score than they've got. And perhaps additional/updated answers. Or just more visibility, so that active community members remember them when future questions that may be duplicates come in. This room is for bringing them to the limelight.

Generally, this shouldn't be your own questions or answers. The goal is making the site better, not self-promotion.
