I think that different speakers contextualize out-of-context utterances differently when they try to rate them as acceptable or unacceptable. Sometimes a sentence can seem unacceptable until someone thinks of when it would be used.

> conditional (adj./n.) (cond) A term used in grammatical description to refer to clauses whose semantic role is the expression of hypotheses or conditions. In English, these are introduced by if, unless, and a few other conjunctions (e.g. if John asks, tell him…).

Q: AutoReviewComments - Pro-forma comments for SE

Benjol No more re-typing the same comments over and over! This script adds a little 'auto' link next to all comments boxes. We have a tradiition called "a pinch and a punch for the first of the month" where for some reason it's socially acceptable to give your friends or siblings a pinch and a friendly punch on the first day of a month. However, you need to follow this up with "and no returns" otherwise they can get you back ...

@DamkerngT. It's fairly complicated. The basic rules, if I recall them correctly off the top of my head, are ① a relative with a gap in subject position cannot be bare in Standard English (though it can in some dialects); ② in stacked relatives, only the first can be bare; ③ subordinate clauses preceding the matrix predicator must be marked

@Cardinal It's not entirely clear, but when we discuss language, it's generally best if we separate meaning and form.

Q: Bookmark in favicon is small and the circle blends into backgrounds too easily

Nathan TuggyI double-checked, and the favicon didn't make it into the design preview, or I would (hopefully) have commented on this earlier. Moderator @Maulik: Did I say that I wish to get it back as it has more reputation? I want it because by keeping it I can notice the progress of my learning process. It is also easier to track the questions I have posted. — Student 18 hours ago
