@epimorphic Retracted, but there ought to be a target for "sum of arithmetic sequence by induction"... — Mice Elf 13 mins ago

This is closed as a duplicate but it's not really a duplicate of the question linked to; maybe it's primarily opinion based? What is $\varphi(0)$?

"2 more votes are needed to delete this post" on my question math.stackexchange.com/questions/1309204/…. I was made a request to delete the question but the question seems not gaining much votes. The question is duplicate.

The only difficulty seems to be writing down the equations (which doesn't involve math but rather the physics behind the problem), once they're written down they're immediate to solve.

@AméricoTavares I'm sorry but I don't quite follow. How does the existence of answers imply that the question is on-topic? It is a basic question on electrical circuits. I know some people can learn about units or Newton's laws in something that's called a "math" class, but here it seems to be an enormous stretch...

(Although a question can enter the review queue only once due to an edit. That's why if a question is put on hold, then the next edit should address the reasons for putting on hold.)

@Yes Why? If it is of low quality no need to keep it. If it is of good quality, it should not be closed (other than dupe).

Q: New 10K tool: question close statistics

Shog9Two years ago, we rolled out some significant changes to closing, along with a massive number of changes behind the scenes to clean up the supporting logic that had grown crufty over the years. As with many ambitious projects, this one quickly pushed the limits of its 6–8 week implementation sche...

@Lord_Farin So much for valuable content being "lost." It looks like everything is around multiple times anyway.

@NajibIdrissi For those interested, it's because of this.

@anorton When I step on a rake, I try to remember and make sure I do it next day too, for the sake of consistency.

I think some of the massively upvoted ones should be locked as "Preserved for historical significance, but no longer considered a good, on-topic question for this site."

Note to self: should this happen again, ping a mod in the room instead of calling upon the entire SE army.

@Doorknob It would have been better if Undo posted the chat message.

I think that A calculus proof for the general term of the Fibonacci sequence can be closed as a duplicate of some of the posts mentioned in the comments.
Jan 21, 2015 22:04
@Lord_Farin Such a comment is a good idea for (at least) two reasons: 1) it clearly tells the OP "watch me, so later you may do as I do," and 2) it lets future readers understand that not all the effort in the question was from the OP.

@Fundamental Being helped $\ne$ Have answers.
Jan 21, 2015 21:17
@MartinSleziak FWIW, I think this is bad practice. You should not be impersonating the OP. If you want it reopened, convince people under your own title, e.g. in a comment.
Jan 16, 2015 23:24
Either way, I consider it as a false dichotomy to have "community votes" and "moderator votes," especially since votes to close/reopen (in contrast to up/down votes) are not expressions of a personal opinion but enforcing policies, for everybody. The name "vote" is really confusing in this context, unfortunately.

room topic changed to Reopen? Undelete? Close? Delete?: Sorting things out when the usual review process does not work. [close] [delete] [duplicate] [reopen] [undelete]
Dec 29, 2014 23:41
(The result of review was leave closed. Is there much of a chance, that many other users would notice the post in review history or stumbled upon it in some other way?)
Dec 29, 2014 23:39
Especially with robo-reviewers and many people having differing opinion what should be re-open and what shouldn't.
Dec 29, 2014 23:36
Well, I would say that there are still cases when reopen queue is not sufficient. (Of course, I might be wrong.)
Dec 27, 2014 21:57
I consider the approach "here are moderator powers, now go and don't use them" to be a bigger problem than an occasional mistake by a moderator.
Mar 22, 2014 11:25
I see now, voting to delete answers is possible after 20k. (I do not remember how many votes are needed.)
Oct 27, 2012 20:02
@MartinSleziak Yup, you should bug any of the mods the next time the room gets frozen again to unfreeze it.
