It would be very desirable that nominees do not start flagging things en masse now to better their statistics...

take it easy, folks. Stretching an argument out as far as humanly possible may be a local tradition of sorts, but please be considerate of the other folks reading this room.

You shouldn't feel insulted; you were obviously unqualified.

According to GraceNote "users are able to change their vote at any time in both the primary and election phases. ".

Don't vote for moderators just because they have bucketloads of rep

I really sincerely wish you hadn't.

And Dilaton lost his bet.

@Thomas "Fischer" seems popular.

It also has the advantage of not breaking election calculation tools that don't like unicode. RECOMMENDED.

While I agree that a moderator should not go around using the mod abilities left and right in contested case, I for one consider the restraint demanded by some from mods on this site as excessive, and in fact a cause of problems.

Three cheers for Daniel and Jyrki!

Agreed on candidate rep. But it turns out that the most participatory, experienced, and qualified candidates will oftentimes happen to have rep by virtue of time on the site.

I think moderator candidates should be familiar with the on-topic page in Help Center... (I hope @AhaanS.Rungta retracts the vote)

Tip: if you have time to read just one of candidate's responses, read Ilmari Karonen's (saying this even though I'm unlikely to vote for him). It is refreshing to read a thoughtful post by someone who's not among the same 10 people who were arguing over the same things for the last couple of years.

@epimorphic Imagine what would happen if we could downvote in large political elections.

@HatMan It means Ilmari Karonen was there.

@DanielFischer With Jonas's refusal to nominate, I think it's time you and Jyrki step up.

Being liked does not a good candidate make. It would help a candidate be elected, whether good or not.

A few minutes until we can congratulate 7 winners and offer our condolences to the three users who lost...

The number of voters exceeded 1300 (precisely, 1301 as of now).

@skullpatrol I see your video and raise this random webcomic (+ next 2 pages). (Warning: Those specific pages are mostly work-safe; most of the comic is very definitely not.)

1137 users voted so far in 2014 election, which is as many as in all (4) previous elections combined.

It seems the opavote page is not linked from anywhere on the 2013 mod election page. Users are invited to download the data and install software... come on. Any reason to not link to detailed results from election page, @Shog9?

@BillDubuque if I may ask here, is your presence now to be counted as return, or are you still in the state of having left the site?

Dec 16, 2014 16:14

I am not going to vote for the candidates not wearing hats.

Dec 12, 2014 01:46
Anyway, this by no means suggests that I'm totally satisfied with the current pool of candidates... Still waiting for JL and JM to show up. :)

@MBlanc "main job of a moderator is sifting through the crap on the site" -- no, that's the job for regular users, who have the tools to deal with the crap in all but exceptional circumstances. Then the mods can deal with those exceptions.

@AhaanS.Rungta To find how many users voted so far, subtract 1137 from the number of Constituent badge awards. 1137 is how many times the badge was awarded prior to this election.

Anastasiya-Romanova has not signed in since the 14th. Perhaps she was grounded.

I don't elect my prime minister on the off chance it'll give him the enthusiasm he needs to rise to the challenge.

Dec 15, 2014 20:52
@Behaviour From here it seems like you can change your primary vote within a 3 hour window (unless the candidate edits their nomination). It is a bit old, but I couldn't find anything more recent.

@J.W.Perry Top 10 candidates advance to the final round (and most importantly, get SE swag)

Dec 15, 2014 05:22
That is an awesome name. Even better than anastasiya-romanova
3
Dec 14, 2014 20:20
@Anastasiya-Romanova秀 You should be advised that the community does not, in general, take kindly to moderators using unilateral votes for anything less than a clear cut case (in particular, to support their own ideological views with respect to a heavily contested issue.)

We are now less of a bunch of tenured professors who are used to boss IT guys around.

@Shog9 I think many people would be surprised how harmonious things are now.
