I wonder, when I'm copying code from one of my old projects to this TCG project, can I then enter into some legal issues with myself?
Aug 20, 2014 14:48
There is only bad documentation *cough*
Aug 20, 2014 12:21
@SimonAndréForsberg That means it must be good if we both wrote it!
Aug 20, 2014 12:20
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a running test!
Aug 20, 2014 09:18
@Phrancis If you know how to work with git, you can if you'd like add a html-css branch to the main repository and add stuff there. If you don't know how to work with git, you can learn git :)

@skiwi Awake and refreshed and willing to accomplish something today!

Although the players don't start with 20 health, they start with 42.
Aug 19, 2014 01:51
nvm... guess what the answer is? Make a table..

i prefer to avoid inheritance altogether unless i absolutely need it
Aug 15, 2014 19:49
@SimonAndréForsberg keep in mind that the people doing the scripting will probably have more of a designer role than a developer role, and theme is what they should be concerned with
Aug 15, 2014 10:32
What programmers do.... naming things.
Aug 15, 2014 06:12
well hello there
Aug 15, 2014 01:38
I was actually planning on getting the URL tomorrow... CardShift.com to me feels best, I tend to see .org as giving the impression of a charitable/non-profit, which we're not sure yet... and .net ehh..... less memorable
Aug 14, 2014 00:13
Has anyone thought of... asking on Programmers.SE what approach would make the most sense?
Aug 13, 2014 21:37
if we can think of an example of something we actually might want to do, like tracking player rep across games, we should figure out how to handle it. If there's no clear use case example, I don't think it's worth thinking about until the need arises
Aug 13, 2014 21:01
not just so people can make a live action fighting game MMORPG racecar simulation on our engine :p
Aug 13, 2014 20:00
but I believe on a regular board layout, we can make about any game we want, as long as it is within the TCG concept
Aug 13, 2014 19:47
I may be speaking out of ignorance, but if we documented/commented the code well and had modder-friendly documentation it wouldn't be a huge deal for modders who don't want the default setting for the server
Aug 13, 2014 19:15
lol xD
Aug 13, 2014 17:52
I feel like we are having a great bunch of knowledge here together :)
Aug 13, 2014 17:35
the thing is, i think you could design the mod so that you still have one file per card, but it could pull all the attack/defense values from a table in another file if you wanted to do that as a modder
Aug 13, 2014 10:00
We can make a server browser in the client, listing registered servers and what mods they run (also direct ip access for unregistered ones)
Aug 11, 2014 22:08
iOS is not really a mod friendly place
Aug 11, 2014 21:04
i guess all this bleeding-edge stuff will not be bleeding-edge by the time we release anyway
Aug 11, 2014 20:30
One step kilogram at a time and the ton won't be a ton anymore.
Aug 11, 2014 16:02
interfacing php and Lua?! Only insane people would do that
Aug 10, 2014 20:21
> This blank image provides proof of invisible unicorns
Aug 10, 2014 20:07
feels like 90% of it is just magical incantations and interfaces and you have to dig for the 10% that actually does stuff
Aug 10, 2014 19:22
Can't wait to (try to) get my hands dirty, see if I can break something ;)

I hate Facebook... I posted nothing there and all of a sudden I'm tagged in 8 posts???

I don't feel like it will matter to me, but companies will care about a degree
Aug 7, 2014 21:36
You can walk over to my computer to see ti @Phrancis
Aug 7, 2014 16:40
only legends and myths, nothing factual yet.
Aug 7, 2014 16:36
I like both for different reasons. The red stands out but the logo feels a little cramped. I like how you made the "C" look like a card
Aug 7, 2014 15:54
I used the upload button to upload this picture showing where the upload button is
Aug 7, 2014 15:19
I'm always producing code :P

Control-alt-shift
Aug 5, 2014 22:21
But at some point I'll get somewhere and it will just "click", that's how it was for SQL, it made no sense whatsoever until I understood join's
Aug 5, 2014 01:22
I'm thinking unit cards as either a robot or hybrid/cyborg... effect cards as hardware and software... hardware could be destructible but software not, except with other software (or destruction of the unit it's attached to). Perhaps software cards could be retracted and recast? That would make for interesting mechanics

we probably need to start working on a glossary so we can get on the same page with terminology and have exact definitions for things
Aug 1, 2014 22:49
like you are about to win, but everything shifts and you are losing
Aug 1, 2014 22:36
its everything
Aug 1, 2014 22:12
The hard part isn't C though. The hard part is the algorithm... which can be done in pseudo-code first.
Aug 1, 2014 21:40
There's gonna be a soundtrack? Sweet lol.
Aug 1, 2014 20:33
Otherwise, you could find yourself creating a game that's easy to program instead of a game that's fun to play.
Aug 1, 2014 20:30
what got me started on this thought path was mtg enchantments since they have an effect, but stay on the board like a unit
Aug 1, 2014 19:58
@bazola nahhhh... "meathead thunderclubs?" "dirk shortstrokes?"
