Discussion on question by uhoh: Chekhov's Gun et al. Why are so many story elements, devices, and techniques referenced to Anton Chekhov?

@uhoh FWIW, despite the name, "TV Tropes" covers written literature as well, so I wouldn't say that even a question entirely about TV Tropes would necessarily be off-topic here and on-topic in Movies & TV.

@dumbass @uhoh I think there's a reasonable discussion to be had here about question phrasing, and maybe a compromise to be found.
