I know composing a response takes time, but be aware these are issues on which the community has specifically voted their desire to hear candidate positions on.
The C.SE site allows that in a way that no other site I've run across does. My goal in running for a mod position is to protect that. It's precious to me.

@AJHenderson This is one of the reasons why I always insist that SE is capable of handling tough issues in a way that many other platforms fail to do. The experience here has shown us that it's possible
@Caleb Well... It was so easy to vote in the incumbents last year that it was almost a foregone conclusion. You all did such an excellent job through the BETA that it was easy to vote an "all current" preference.
I like the fact that David Stratton comes from a non-practicing Christian family. Maybe he understands the atheist mindset better than the Christians who are born in Christian families and have been Christians all their lives.
I think moderators should have the ability to cast a normal, non binding vote like they were a normal user (while of course retaining their ability to cast a binding vote where necessary).

Can mods vote to close in a non-veto way? Or does electing people to mods in a small site like this mean that there are less people to vote on the borderline questions? (I assume some mods would prefer to not have a veto vote sometimes...)
