Haven't seen this kind of a MathJax truncation bug before…

Today I find that the MathJax renders like this. It is a bit ugly. I remembered that it should have used Computer Modern font. What is going wrong?

Q: Upgrade plans for MathJax v3/v4

KyleMitWhile this is not the way I wanted to announce this, it seems the cat is out of the bag. But for those who haven't noticed, as part of our Community Asks Sprint, I spent the week investigating how we might go about upgrading our MathJax version from 2.x to 3.x+, as had been requested in several p...

This room has been relatively silent recently. Just in case it gets frozen, I will remind that moderators can unfreeze chatrooms - so you can ask some moderator (from any site) whether they would be willing to do so. How do I convert mathjax to pdf? Is there any online website that does it?
Jan 9, 2023 03:31
I have a question. Why does \color in mathjax function like \textcolor in real LaTeX?

MathJax is now used on Github

Let's hope somebody might notice the discussion here - and they might know a better way.
Apr 25, 2023 13:23
Ok, I should move onto doing something else. Have a nice day!

This room has the advantage that somebody else might notice that you've asked here about MathJax.

@MartinSleziak Thank you. Today I learnt about $\nexists$. I guess forall isn't accorded the same negation abbreviation because it is less frequently uttered in natural language

@RyanG @MartinSleziak: I use braces as well. I also improve the spacing like this: $∀x{∈}S\ ∃y{∈}T\ ( \ Q(x,y) \ )$.

I would expect the two versions to be rendered in the same way. (I though thtat this is how it works in LaTeX.)
Jun 29, 2021 10:25
Does this happen in other browsers?

There is no difference between align and align* on stack editor ?

Jun 5, 2021 08:48
@DimaPasechnik Well, if not for any other reason, it worked in MathJax for a long time - so removing this would break the display in many places that are using it.

@MartinSleziak Using Chrome on MacOS, I am able to reproduce this when the math renderer is set to HTML-CSS. If I change it to any other math renderer, then it is displayed correctly. I have not yet tested this on other browsers/devices.
Nov 20, 2022 15:03
Have you tried changing the math renderer you're currently using for MathJax. From what I read here, not all of them rely on local fonts: What is the difference between the 3 math renderers? (I do not know enough about MathJax to help - but maybe knowing whether this behaves the same for all renderers might help somebody to diagnose the problem.) Unrelated: since the comments suggest that this might not actually be a bug, I have added the tag (support). — Martin Sleziak 3 mins ago

I've been wanting to update this answer on mathpix for a while now since martin pointed out the error, but I'm unsure what the number actually is per month. I currently have 21 "free snips" left but I did invite a few people. It could also be that they are playing with the number to see how profitable it is.
May 20, 2022 01:46
Free snips in Mathpix is down to 10 a month. Might need to update some posts

Since the main MathJax page loads slowly, I tried using Stackprinter to make a single page I can print to pdf. Then i can ctrl+f through this file\ instead. There are some errors but on the whole I think it is very useful. An added benefit is that Stackprinter can't see deleted answers (shown to users ≥10k rep) Result here.

i was wondering if there's an alternative mathjax code for something like $\exists L\in\mathbb R\forall\epsilon>0$ such that the spaces around $\in$ is compressed; typically, I manually add spaces within the string of quantifiers to make it more readable, but that's tedious/inefficient... In short: is there an alternative code for \in that doesn't automatically create a gulf around the symbol? Thanks.

@MartinSleziak Do you know if there's a way to do something like \vspace{-10mm} to remove the unnecessary whitespace at the beginning of this question?
Jul 27, 2021 16:32
I've noticed a possible bug with \cdot and \dots when combining them. For example, I'd expect the \dots from $1\cdot2 \cdot \dots \cdot n=n!$ to be not at the same line of the \cdots. But they all show in the same line.

Until you reply RussianBot I have been facing a lot in my new laptop while using MathJax. The problem is that sometimes when I use mathjax and see the result simulatenously the result can't kind of move in a strange way and then works. Here is what I want to convey . Even its speed is so fast that I can't even pick screenshot. Can you guys have a look at the drive link and tell what is the fault?
Jun 5, 2021 06:13
Plus such use in MathJax lacks alignment between lines.
Jun 5, 2021 06:12
Personally I never use \\ in (La)TeX's own formula environments, i.e. $…$, $$…$$, and \[…\], in MathJax for compatibility with real (La)TeX.
Jun 3, 2021 14:48
I know that in LaTeX \\ does not work inside $$..$$. But I have noticed long time ago that it works in MathJax.
Jun 3, 2021 14:48
Is there some kind of official documentation saying how this is supposed to behave in MathJax?
Feb 18, 2021 00:10
Yeah I know that you can choose. I was curious about the default choice for rendering here, why they chose HTML
Feb 10, 2021 02:52
Why does StackExchange render Mathjax as HTML vs. as an SVG? Curious about tradeoffs. I saw this question math.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/8881/… that talks a bit about it, but wondering if anything has changed / any more motivation behind it

@MartinSleziak thank you. I'm trying to figure out how to do a spoiler on StackEdit, the same thing where on MSE you type $>!$ and a box appears where the text is hidden until click on the link...
Dec 27, 2020 17:39
Asking about Stack Edit here would certainly be ok.
Dec 22, 2020 17:53
If I were to ask how to do something on StackEdit would that be ok??
Nov 26, 2020 09:51
Tl;dr: One should not use a label already used in some other post in the same thread because when a thread loads, all MathJax codes are processed at the same time and so MathJax throws an error if there are two equations with the same label (If such an issue has not been discussed on Meta.Math.SE, it may not be a bad idea to start a new thread talking about it because it can be a widespread one among users).
Nov 26, 2020 09:51
Solution: You can use the "tag" code alone, as explained in the above answer. However, since you are a high rep user and your edit would be implemented without being reviewed, I suggest that you change the label in the OP to another one, for example, "*", and so change them in the "\ref"'s in it.

Davide Cervone is the first user with silver mathjax badge on meta. (This is unlikely to surprise anybody who follows meta. Davide Cervone also has silver mathjax badge on Stack Overflow.)

@user1271772 I assume that probably Stack Exchange developers would be in a good position to say whether this could cause some problems or not.

The auto-generated comment under each of the questions that I voted to close is not parsing correctly. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Mar 4, 2020 10:56
Hey, I am new to this chatroom so excuse any mistake I may make. But I have a question: is there currently a reliable and complete source to learn how MathJax works internally? Since the API section of the version 3 documentation is not finished as of now, it is kind of tough at times to understand the code just by looking at it.
Feb 14, 2020 18:32
Hi. Any idea how to fix the MathJax when a command is rendering what is not supposed in the first place? E.g. I'm trying to write $\cos x$, but $\cos$ is rendered as $($ for some reason.

Why lowercase letter are not allowed in \mathcal ?
