@Passerby You asked
> "Three people, with no connection to EE, low rep/question/answer, only nominating because of lack of response. Why even bother, just have employees appoint someone instead?" -->
I can only comment on what I see. All canidates have moderator experience. One at least has more experience than you seem to realise. Null has been an EE member for just under 8 years, is in the top 4% of EE rep,
The bot provided stats say: candidate score 26/40
reputation 6k
moderation badges: 8/8

@Null - Congratulations!

And thank you to @Mast and @Juraj for being candidates and offering your help to the site!

@Passerby Instead of complaining against those who run or the system, you should have pushed those you think are more involved to run. However, EE probably needs experienced moderators, and all the three current candidates have this experience, and this probably much better than a high-rep user with no moderator experience.

I've tried to do that although not as well as I'd hoped. I've recently started taking actions aimed at this which will also hopefully help improve site quality a little. BUT from the inside looking out it's sad to see the degree of misunderstanding that some have of what moderators do and why in some harder cases. As people only see half the picture the angst and best efforts are usually unseen and unappreciated.

@Passerby I admitted in my nomination post that my reputation is a bit low for a moderator and that I hadn't planned on running in this election (for that exact reason), but very few users had any interest in running so I decided to run. I'm volunteering to help the site's moderators, which I am well prepared to do given my experience as a moderator on a different SE site since 2016 and my own user-level moderation of EE in the time I've been a member.

@Passerby re rep --> Yes, I'm aware of the rep distribution shape. More useful for this sort of comparison may be the table below.
6000 rep puts one at about top 3% of active users of over 200 rep, about top 10% of over 500, and top 20% of over 1000. That's not "high flying" by some measures, BUT there are a range of measures and Null scrores well in many of these.
If you look at how the candidate scoring system works they have 20/20 if rep is excluded. And probably better than 20:20 :-) - as multiple awarded badges count only once.

I don't pity your nomination.
