"They pay a lot of money for care, but that cost is hidden in their taxes" - yes, but the amount that is hidden in their taxes is still less than the US cost; your first point mentions this: "We do not get better care by spending more"

UK spends 3,278 British pounds per capita in government spending. This is 4,532.46 USD. US federal government spends 3636 USD per capita, and states spend a large amount. So no, US citizens have more of their tax money spent on health care per person than citizens of other industrial nations. It is just that the US health care system is crazy inefficient. UK higher taxes are not from health care.
