@JourneymanGeek Why did Aibobot post an answer? superuser.com/a/661755

In the spirit of the tag cleanup, what's the best way to draw attention to an old meta question with a cleanup request?
I started typing up a question about the adobe flash tags and got suggested this https://meta.superuser.com/questions/6040/flash-adobe-flash-and-flash-player which has been unloved for about a year and a half

Seems like another near-600 rep user misused his 300-rep privilege to create two new tags...
Jul 8, 2014 18:49
@damryfbfnetsi I don't go to MSE to have a tag on SU burned
Jul 8, 2014 18:34
@CanadianLuke Yes, I know, but you're the moderator's apprentice
Jul 8, 2014 18:31
No need to ping every single mod that comes in here.
Jul 8, 2014 18:30
@Sathya I saw a 1900 rep user create the the other day, 1500 isn't high enough...
Jul 7, 2014 18:43
@damryfbfnetsi Just because it is recommending a product does not make it spam, actual spam is someone with a vested interest in pushing a product on people, i.e. they will be financially compensated for advertising. A person who just happens to know that one product, in of a group of many similar products, can fix a problem is not spamming. Feel free to comment that other products may be available though.

Q: When cleaning up tags, please use one post per tag so that real community input can be given

Lance RobertsPlease Don't Let This Happen To Your Site A recent problem surfaced on Meta Super User, where they have one question that they use for tag burnination/cleanup, and they just edit the question every month to a new burn order. This has led to a large amount of upvotes on the post, that are usuall...

@damryfbfnetsi If you have a proposal, please open a question on Meta. It's just that we've previously agreed on what to do. Even if you strongly disagree with that, that's not a reason to delete the tag or encourage others to do so.

Q: AutoReviewComments - Pro-forma comments for SE

Benjol No more re-typing the same comments over and over! This script adds a little 'auto' link next to all comments boxes. When you click the link, you see a popup with 6 configurable auto-comments (canned responses), which you can easily click to insert. This script was inspired by answers to thi...

@cb0gus No prob. Note that you can edit your previous message if you press ↑ in the text box :)
Oct 23, 2013 08:30
When in doubt, please just flag one of the posts. What you often cannot see is the number of similar deleted answers on these questions. The spammers often take a shot multiple times, create dozens of different accounts etc.
Oct 23, 2013 08:29
@pabouk Short answers with a link to a commercial product are not necessarily spam. They may be genuine recommendations, relevant, and factually correct. We do, however, get massive spam for certain topics, including but not limited to: PST/OST conversion, password recovery and video conversion. A new user posting answers to these topics, with links to shady websites or tutorials and no other participation is undoubtedly a spammer.

superuser.com/users/78753/jacob-wyke could a mod have a word with this guy, please?
Mar 8, 2013 18:48
Given the number of minor edits I'd say having it community wiki is fine. That's the whole point of automatically converting it.
Feb 2, 2013 23:21
@RTOSkit No, should be fine, as long as you fix other stuff in the posts as well (if needed) :)
Jan 29, 2013 11:26
@Diogo I'm sorry to see that you think so. The Stack Exchange team and the Super User moderators do think that reviewing is something that should be done with care, and in your case there were some problems in how your reviews didn't catch some posts that – in essence – should have been deleted.
Dec 30, 2012 14:46
@HackToHell Haha, alright. I believe it takes 4 votes to leave something open so it'll leave the queue, which IMHO is too much.
Nov 21, 2012 15:50
@wonea Please keep edits substantial. Just adding kbd tags to a two year old post is too minor and pure aesthetics. Same for changing > to →. If there's nothing else to do, leave the post.
Nov 6, 2012 20:43
The review tools don't really show much context, so potentially important details (like whether the person whose contribution is being reviewed was the OP) tend to be easy to miss.
Oct 12, 2012 20:01
@JaredTritsch pertains to licensing, licensing questions aren't meant to be asked here, they're off topic
Oct 11, 2012 21:45
@JaredTritsch I was that way once.... and now I hardly get any rep
Jul 30, 2012 15:01
@diogo - if you flag for a broken link, try looking if you could replace the link with a working one, or if the link is not essential to the answer, just remove it. Then there's no need to flag, because we can't do anything else :)
Jul 27, 2012 21:09
@KronoS But if you feel something should be a comment add that to the flag reason, it's easier to digest for us. Extra bonus points for adding the ID of the post it should be migrated to ;)

Lord Farquaad is the main antagonist from the 2001 animated feature film Shrek. He is voiced by John Lithgow. Lord Farquaad in the Shrek films Shrek Lord Farquaad is the comically short-in-stature, ruthless ruler of Duloc. Several times in the film it is commented that, in his capital city Duloc's towering height, Farquaad may be compensating for something. His birthday is April 15th. In his pursuit of perfection, Farquaad attempts to rid his Kingdom of Fairy Tale creatures, offering a bounty for their capture and then exiling imprisoned creatures to Shrek's swamp. However, because Farq...

Welcome to Super User. Questions here should try to follow the FAQ (link), and be able to be answered in a clear, concise manner. In order to do so, you should post questions that can be answered by experts, show research effort, and have as much detail as possible

Jun 20, 2012 12:00
wait, closing tablet questions where we actually know the answer should be welcome?
Jun 20, 2012 10:39
Isn't it better to include those questions than leaving them to moderators though? It's better that questions are Off Topic and Answered, than commenting in "you shouldn't be answering that here, so i'm not bothing to answer it even though i can help"

Jun 20, 2012 10:11
You're allowed to ask questions about no matter how obscure piece of software, but you can't ask something about an obscure piece of hardware? That's just silly

FYI folks, there is a new room for moderator discussion and community interaction. People who are in this room a lot might appreciate it.
Feb 26, 2012 15:25
It seems that the community agrees that he's taking it too far, so he'd just need to accept that and move on. The retags are fine if they're in order and in accordance with what we established on Meta. The low quality answers are another issue, and if ZaB got suspended for them, at least kino should know that he should invest more time there.

In the end, I say we all edit to our hearts content, and if it really is that bad, just hit reject or improve! This isn't rocket science, its a few capital letters here and there, some wording here, and a link or two.
Nov 14, 2011 04:32
@Gareth I figured that was probably it, but regardless, if it's already old, closed, and has few views, there's no reason to dig it up. Just flag for removal.
Aug 26, 2011 16:01
if the question was more explicit about the fact the connections and data were to be performed from a Java program the asker was making it would be 100% SO, at the moment it is a little ambiguous, but at first glance doesn't seem to be SU material (I suspect you don't, generally, open connections manually unless you're programming)
Aug 1, 2011 19:42
@bubble please do not post a new question though. Edit your existing question, and it may be re-opened. If you post a new question, it will just be closed as a duplicate of your first question.

indeed @RandolfRichardson, and that is basically what seems to have been the action taken originally

@DMA57361 Thanks but does not answer my question, since community wiki is not a tag, I have tried search, that is why I came here. There should be a centralized place for wiki's imho.
